3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 ReV2 (11) - Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - JAN 22, 2012
Quite tasty for 3.5% beer and a strength I would not normally go for however this beer punches above its weight. Lively head and a lingering hoppy back taste, albeit a little chemically make for a refreshing lightweight beer of minimal complexity.
1.8 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 wimpyjoe (185) - Greater Manchester, ENGLAND - DEC 17, 2011
Dark appearance, refreshing and easy to drink texture, but also a very bland taste.
4.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20 piggypowell (3) - Kidderminster, Worcestershire, ENGLAND - DEC 14, 2011 does not count
Banks’s Mild is my first love in beers as I was brought up on it. Although only 3.5% it more than makes up for this with its full flavour and when kept in good condition a wonderful creamy head. I love it!
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 mike1977ok (1037) - NETHERLANDS - NOV 10, 2011
Orange brown colour. Malty aroma. Flavour is soft and pleasantly malty but lacks any real depth. Texture quite thin.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 flying_pig (267) - SCOTLAND - SEP 23, 2011
Bottle (500ml):
The aroma is the strongest from this beer although I can still detect some malts and some light fruity notes along with a faint hint of chocolatey caramel at the end.
This was poured pretty fast & settles with a two-finger sized, foamy & slightly off-white coloured head. It was sitting atop a very still, clear dark copper coloured pint that looked very nice indeed. The head reduced to a pinky-sized one after a few moments, at which size it remained & left a fair bit of lacing on the glass.
This one taste okay to me, it is a mix of sweet malts, a little caramel from the nose & it has a nice warming finish to it. There is also hints of some burnt biscuit & malts along with a little fruit. The finish is mild bitter one.
Medium body & it is quite smooth. The flavours seem to open up more & more as it is drank making it more enjoyable with each sip.
A nice surprise. It was an easy to drink, relatively low alcohol beer when compared to what I’m used to & one that is a good way to kick off any evening. Potentially one that I would buy again although there is so many out there that are pretty similar, a good beer none the less.
