Creamy milky palate. Full flavored, nice palate. Missing some complexity, but a really easy drinking beer. Different than I remember it though. I [;an to explore this over and over again, seeing how many faces it has. For now, I say it’s real good. puzzl (2619), New York, New York, USA

Who doesn’t look up Guinness pretty much as soon as they find this site? Well, I did, as I was curious if it was actually as good as people said, considering I wasn’t crazy about it. Well, I was right, but I immediately saw the list of the best dry stouts -- the way Guinness was supposed to taste -- and there at the top was this lovely beer.
So, low and behold, I finally have one in my hands. While it’s not the heavenly gift I was hoping for, it’s still a nice beer. Black, sooty nose, slight peanut-brittle and chalk. Very mellow, but balanced and well done. Fizzy, big, cola like head. At once smooth and a little harsh in the mouth, slightly minerally but very drinkable. Chalky and super dry, with husky wheat notes and bitter cocoa butter. Tasty stuff. GG (1622), NorCal, California, USA

This was an odd beer to put my finger on. It looks really nice with a good nose, but outside of that I sort of wonder what happened. Aroma was a bit metallic, a heavy dose of chocolate malts made me thinking I was in for a treat. Appearance was standard. Deep black, khaki head, beautiful beer. But as soon as it hit my mouth I could tell something was wrong. Overly thin, nearly watery in its consistency. Tasted like fake chocolate, something like Hershey’s might throw together. Lightly hopped. It was average drinking, and unless they changed the recipe I don’t see how this won a medal. Drew (2408), Kent, Ohio, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 24, 2007 22 oz bottle. Almost black with a light tan head that leaves some. Mocha and roasted coffee introduce a similar taste. Nothing dominates with dark fruits just peeking through. Smooth, medium body, but not heavy, makes this an easy drinking stout. A fine finish to a great night with excellent folks. dirtymike (2018), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA

A little smoky bacon in the nose, some light chocolate and roasty malts round out the aromas. Very flavorful, good chocolate, nice balanced malts with a little smoke. Very nice. Just a little bitter sweet too, especially in the finish. The aftertaste has some lingering caramel that kind of sticks to the sides of the cheeks. Very nicely done. Pours dark brow/black with a medium beige head. This was smooth and delicious. The sublime blending of flavors makes this silky and velvet-like. After a day of Impy Stout tasting, this was still remarkable malty and flavorful. Delicious chocolates linger.
