Ty5592 (1015), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 6, 2007 Bottle from porterhouse.Medium body dark brown brew. Nice dark tan head that leaves quickly. Really nice roaste aroma flowing out of the glass. That taste was of medium roasted malt, light coffee, light chocolate, and lightvanilla. Great balance. Nice roasted bitter sweet chocolate finish. Very good. shrubber85 (2836), Wallhalben, Germany Mar 3, 2007 Bottle. Mocha coffee, cola and light astringent aroma. Dark brown with nice big head and lacing. Moderate dry/astringent chocolate/coffee malt flavor. Mild hops finish with malty aftertaste. Another great thing about Otter Creek. buckybeer (666), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA Mar 1, 2007 Thanks to porterhouse for trading this one to me. Bomber poured into a 24oz snifter. Pours a deep dark brown with a big brown head. Beautiful pour. Aroma is chocolate, malts, light coffee. Also a slight metallic smell that bumped it down a point. But still pretty darn good. Flavor is stronger coffee, bitter cocoa, and rich malts. Mighty fine. Mighty fine. Volgon (2487), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Jan 14, 2007 Bomber: Clear black with a light tan head, aroma has dark fruits, chocolate and roasted coffee, medium bodied, fizzy carbonation, starts lightly sweet and then ends sweeter with a lackluster ending. LyndaNova (492), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Jan 7, 2007 Cold 22oz bottle: Pours an opaque dark chocolate color with a minimal amount of tan bubbles, mostly around the edges. Aroma is of rich roasted malts, coffee, chocolate and dark fruits with some floral notes. Taste is of rich roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and subtle floral hops with notes of fruit. Medium body, smooth and well carbonated. Ending is of roasted malts with some sour and earth notes. after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA Nov 16, 2006 Bomber. Pours deep black with a big, thick, moussy, surging light tan head. Nice toffee nose with some roast along for the ride. Lots of lacing. Soft attack, medium body with a spritz of carb on the finish. Very nice mouthfeel. Roast and toast in there. Very dry hollow finish. Great, clean, drinkable, satisfying stout--this is the good stuff. jcr (1139), Jasper, Indiana, USA Oct 23, 2006 This stout eclipses other dry stouts with its balance of sweet, bitter and dry. Black pour with big bubbled tan head. Its nose is mainly roasted malts with hints of sweet coffee. The flavor started sweet and malty and moved quickly to roast and coffee and finished tart and bitter. Thin body with moderate, raspy carbonation. Acidic finish. Highly drinkable. SpudClampDawg (1027), Jasper, Indiana, USA Oct 22, 2006 Midnight black pour with a deep brown highlight. The head builds as the beer is poured - slowly receding into a creamy cap. The pour also releases alot of CO2 which really smells plasticy. Below the blanket of dioxide is a subdued roasted malt profile that is indeed invited. Fortunately, the body really redeems the nose. The slight tartness in the finish makes this beer for me. Sure there is lots of bitter coffee and dark chocolate. Some toffee and nuttiness as well. But it isn’t overly sweet and the tartness concretes this. It is nice to drink a full flavored stout that isn’t as filling as a chocolate dessert. A great dry stout indeed.
