Black pour with big bubbled tan head. Its nose is mainly roasted malts with hints of sweet coffee. The flavor started sweet and malty and moved quickly to roast and coffee and finished tart and bitter. Thin body with moderate, raspy carbonation. Acidic finish. Highly drinkable. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 16, 2005 (22 oz. bottle) Huge thick tan head, which ultimately collapses kind of haphazardly so the lacing’s not very good. Deep dark brown body. Aroma of roasted grain and chocolate. More sweet than bitter, mouthfeel a little fizzy, wish you could grab the head a little more. Awesome chocolatey, toasted flavor which lingers a long, long time. Just wish it was a little creamier, but this is real good stuff. ericandersnavy (1150), crossroads, Texas, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 28, 2006 Thanks to Me for bringing this beer back from Maine last March.
Stout pours with a nearly opaque ink black body. The head is deep shade of khaki. It pours large but fades quickly into oblivion… & there sits a stout.
The aroma is sweet, fruity and chocolaty. The flavor offers thoughts of plums, date sugars, milk chocolates, licorice, and molasses. The palate is a bit chalky, and is particularly dry in the finish. A very nice beer… would fare well on cask!

Pours a deep opaque brown with a creamy light tan head. Milk chocolate, roasted malt and a lactose note are on the nose. It does not smell like a dry stout. Light to medium-bodied and creamy with soft carbonation. The flavor is of chocolaty, dry, roasted malt. Pretty nice. Thanks for sharing this with us, Tim. 00cobraR (1103), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 1, 2007 Pours out lively, black and totally opaque. A small brown head forms and sticks around for a short while. Biscuity malts and a milk chocolate/caramel duet comprise the majority of the nose, with lesser notes of cashews, roasty malts, anise and molasses. Alcohol is suitably concealed. The flavor is very satisfying, bringing additions of dried figs and raisins. Light sweetness and light acidity are muffled further by moderate roast and plenty of malt. The finish is semi-dry and somewhat short. Carbonation is very high, otherwise the light-medium to medium mouthfeel is great. Very fun to drink. As per the recommendation on the bottle, I do believe this would pair wonderfully with Caesar salad.
