Tried this while on vacation in Bar Harbor. It has a medium brown pour with tan head. Toasted malt and brown sugar aroma carries through to the taste and is remarkably smooth. Nothing revolutionary but still an excellent brew.

Sample at the brewery. I typically find brown ales rather boring and this was not a huge exception. However, there were some nice nutty flavours in there that move it above your typical browns.

(Bottle). Sweet chocolatey aroma. Reddish brown with light brown head. Flavor has a rather sweet profile, and includes lots of chocolate notes, and also some roastiness which lasts into the finish. Overall, it was a little too sweet for my preference in a brown ale.

22oz bottle, purchased at the brewery. Labeled "brew 14". Pours brown, with a slightly reddish hue, capped wit a medium mocha head. Aroma of cocoa, malt, caramel, and some grain. Cocoa and chocolate come through as the primary flavors, with some peat and hazelnut serving as accents. Long, mildly bitter chocolate finish. Above average brown ale.

Had this during the beer tasting. It wasn’t as good once you paid for it.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours dark brown, bit of a tan head. Aroma is a bit roasty and just a tad nutty. Taste is a bit of roasty malt, a bit nutty. Finish is just a bit nutty, maybe the tiniest hint of cocoa, watery. Mouthfeel is kind of thin, watery, carbonation seems just a bit off, comes close to dominating the flavor.

22 oz purchased at Tulley’s in Wells Maine. Pours a reddish brown color with a 1/2" tan head. Some brown lacing. Malt & barley on the nose with a medium mouthfeel. Flavor was malt, barley, some sweet brown sugar and some nuttiness. Good moderately priced brown ale.
