COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION In the early 1800s when Sitka’s economy depended on whale parts and animal pelts, Alexander Baranov governed the land in the name of the Russian-American Company. He must have impressed someone because they named the 1600 square mile island on which the brewery sits after him.
