3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
22oz bottle. Golden amber with a small off white head and some floaties/sediment. Aroma of citrus peel, toffee and earthy herbs. Flavor of sweet toasty malt, rough bitterness and some doughy yeast. Medium body with average carbonation. Not really a fan of this one, kind of rough and yeasty.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours light copper with a beigeish head. Aroma seems floral/fruit. Near full bodied. Flavor is fruit, floral, perhaps some citrus and a slightly roasted malt eventually comes forth for support. This is a tasty brew, tho it has some APA aspects. Some herb/earth aspects emerge in the finish, which is well towards dry, and very nicely bitter. Nice!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Can in Seattle. Gusher, from the can and foam overpouring the pint glass. Deep hazy golden orange, tall foam. Aroma of good sweet hops, a nice balance of citrus and pine. A lovely balance all around, nice strong hop character with solid base malts as well. Carbonation and foam are a little too much but forgiven for the very nice flavors and drinkability. This would be a welcome addition to any tap list in my book.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft at GABBF: Poured a copper golden with an off white head. Aroma is soft floral hops. Taste was hops, soapy, lightly bitter for an IPA.

3.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Thick creamy tan head. good retention, good lacing. Thick opaque orange/amber body.
Some sweet citrus smell comes out, floral and grains. Almost an engine oil/paint thinner burn in the back thatís a little disconcerting, but not quite as offputting as one would expect.
Bitter green hops and grains. Floral and a bit of evergreen. A touch of grass and a sweet finish.
Interesting and difficult to pin down. Glad my brother brought it back down from AK with him.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
22. Pours a clear medium amber with no head or lace after a minute or two. Big rough piney nose, some toasty caramel, and a bit of aluminum. Flabby medium body with little carb. Bitey, somewhat hot mid palate with highly acidic resiny note, a little twang, and then a rather hot and dry finish.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Not necessarily bad, but this IPA didnít do much for me, and it came off a little rough around the edges. Carbonation was a bit too fluffy. Malt side had some scorched caramel flavors that I didnít care for. Hop side had some nice things going on, such as its notes of spruce, citrus and faint flower petals, but its hop bitterness was too stark (tree sap, bitter rind and plant stems).

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JUN 3, 2014 Reviewed from notes.
The appearance has a hazy brown body, just a film of a white head, lightly foamy white lacing.
The smell has hops and caramel malts up front, and just a bit of mint coming out (different for most AIPAís Iíve had but acceptable)
The taste is sweeter than most AIPAís, perhaps because of the mint thatís coming out, caramel aftertaste, sticky finish.
The palate is a light to medium, sessionable, carbonation seems a bit under than most AIPAís, but still acceptable to me.
Overall, I say still an AIPA, but a bit different, way to stand out Baranof, not sure where that mint is cominí from, but Iíd have this again.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This poured a hazed orange with a deepness of colors and hues. It had orange and a darker or brick like orange almost a red. It had hues of gold and of melon. A finger of off white creamy foam that lasted and laced well. Upon pouring the head seems to rise up slowly from the body of the beer as if from some great depth. The bubbles also coming up in seeming slow motion. By the end of the glass that effect had faded. Visually stunning and had so many unique features in the appearance.
Nose is equally vivid. There is tropical fruit, vibrant citrus peel, an icy chilly sweetness from malt that gives a bit of caramel as it warms. Orange peel and light pine. The pine excites the nose then a graceful floral uplifts it. There is also ah herbal that is hard to pin down. Itís not quite dank but any stronger and it could be. This beer is like a peacock that has fanned itís tail out to show you all itís intricate beauty.
The taste is superb. It has a bit of bread and a light caramel. The fruits combine for a sweet succulence overall and the pine accents itís gentle approach to the palate. The floral uplifts the drink and the herbal is the perfect counterpoint with a little grass. The body is light with only a hint of stickiness and resin to coat the back of the throat as you swallow. The gentle or juicier aspect of the fruits combine with a slight bitter for a taste that resembles an english style IPA . The aftertaste is sweet bread with a touch of dank herbs and a small bitter. Perfection.
This beer can stand with the best of them. Exciting, bold, without any harshness. A captivating brew from start to finish.
Thank you so much.

Not a huge fan of this one. Tastes more like a happy amber than anything else. Dark auburn color and an apple aroma. Will not drink again

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Nice slightly hazy copper and amber coloured body with a decent two centimetre tall tan head - still a cloudy beer, nice looking! Aroma of alcohol, apricots, fresh hops, caramel malt, light spices and a hint of bubble gum - nice and pungent throughout. Medium-bodied; Assertive peppery spice and herbal hops up front with not much of a malt backbone and some light spice notes right behind - a hint of alcohol as well. Aftertaste shows a lot of hops, some caramel and alcohol and a pepper and herbal note. Overall, an interesting IPA with more of a deep spice note than that from hops, plus with not much malt to speak of, seems to be a waste. Add in the price of this compared to other Alaska beers and itís worth passing over completely. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Brown Jug (Old Seward) in Anchorage, Alaska on 26-May-2013 for US$9.99 sampled at home in Washington on 08-August-2013.
