Appearance: dark brown. Little head, beige color, low consistence and few persistent. Aroma: Toasty malty, mainly sweet, with reminiscences of candy and coffee. Smoked touch. Flavor: intensive in toasty malts, Sweet start that develop a bitterness of toasty in the end. Reminiscences of coffee and bitter chocolate. Good balance between bitterness and malty, but I waited for greater complexity. Palate: Light to medium body, watery texture. Low carbonation. I agree with others ratebeerians: Of Doppelbock only the name in the bottle!. (sorry for my english)

Dark brown color; medium off-white head that dissappears quickly. Aroma is sweet: burnt sugar, smoked, over-riped plums. Flavor is smoked, flowey with hints of wood and alcohol. Texture is watery and flatly carbonated.

Pours a very dark brown color. Head is tan, medium and mostly diminishing. It laces well in my glass. Aroma is very malty with molasses, smoke, dark chocolate and brown sugar. Not very complex but nice. Flavor is bittersweet with a sweet caramelly start. It becomes more and more roasted towards the finish where it becomes pretty strong and bitter. It has some coca-cola flavor though. Medium body, high carbonation. It finishes dry-ish and smokey. Good smoked aftertaste. This is no way a doppelbock but it’s a good beer whatever style it fits (Probably Dunkler Bock is alright).

Bought in Mendoza, Argentina

UPDATED: JAN 29, 2007 Bottled at Untertürkheim, Buenos Aires. Very dark brown, small head. There’s chocolate sauce and caramel. Clean rounded mouthfeel. Blown up like a baloon, but wth precious little content. There’s some roasty caramelly malt but near no bitterness. The alcohol and malt content is not even sufficent for a bock, let alone a doppelbock. Only a winner by the name in my books.

Full name: Winner Negra Fuerte Double Bock. Bottle. Black dense colour. Good light brown mostly lasting head. Nice heavy chocolate aroma to it. Bit sweet moderate flavour of fruits (raisins/plum) with a heavy long finish. Almost oily texture to it. A great brew!

Bottle - June 2006. Pours a deep black color with a dark tan head that diminishes to a thin layer above it´s dark velvet body. Aroma is very chocolaty, lovely and profound. Taste is dried fruits, chocolate, tobacco... simply amazing, very balanced and profound. Mouthfeel is medium to thick, smooth, but very filling. Aftertaste is a low point, it´s almost non existant. A very impressive brew, although it should be labeled "bock" and not "double bock" since it´s only 4,8% abv, but it´s very tasty indeed.
