DruncanVeasey (2695), The Penguin’s Arms, Europe, Warwickshire, England Jun 1, 2007 Bottled, in regulation frosted mug. Have never actually seen this beer before, despite having drank it many times...pours hazy gold with a thick creamy head going nowhere. Evocatively Belgian aromas of liquorice, coriander and beeswax. Sweet, medicinal, warming and oatily thick. Possibly some piney hops emerging as it warms. The wheat is buried in honey, spice and alcohol. What a way to go. Unsubtle but tasty ale. Beerdedone (1873), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA May 24, 2007 Pours a yellow color with a nice white head. Aroma of caramel malt, fruits, and some spices. Flavor of honey, malt, and coriander, quite smooth. A good belgian strong. Mangino (1027), Mississippi, USA May 23, 2007 Pours a clear golden color, small white head around the edge. Nose is full of orange zest with a little honey in the backround. Starts thick and sweet, the honey and spice is definitely present. Mouthfeel is thick and smooth. Almost no bite at the end. Not bad. islay (470), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA May 15, 2007 11.2 oz. bottle. Honey, orange, and raspberry scents, but there is a pronounced presence of noble hops aromas as well, like a fruit-sweet spin on a Czech pilsner. Pours a clear, sparkling brass with a small to moderate amount of off-white head. Surprisingly dry, saison-like taste. Honey, lemon, and various spices present in the flavor. Hops noticeable. The honey sweetness balances well with the hoppy dryness. An unwelcome touch of Pine-Sol-like taste, but that’s not quite as bad as it sounds. Bitter hoppy aftertaste. Medium body. Lively, frothy, at times oily, and, as previously mentioned, parchingly dry in the palate. Barbar defied my expectations on the way to surpassing them. An intriguing and appetizing brew. faroeviking (6024), Republica Vikingo de las, Faroe Islands May 10, 2007 Bottle. Pours a nice golden colour with a nice big bubbly creamish mostly lasting white head. Good lacing. Sweet aroma of honey, alcohol, yeats, fruits and caramel. Good champagneish mouthfeel to it. The flavour is sweet with honey and caramel, fruity, malty, alcoholic, bit of spices and yeast. Sweet spitzy honey finish. Fin (3382), Merton, Oxfordshire, England May 2, 2007 Bottle, nice golden colour with large white frothy head. Aroma’s of alcohol, some spiciness but honey also quite evident. Quite smooth in taste with honey again showing but possibly a touch too sweet, some bitterness and quite a decent beer all in all. zach8270 (2051), Henrietta, New York, USA Apr 28, 2007 (bottle - 33 cl) Clear golden color with a puffy and fizzy white head. Aroma is rather sweet with a good amount of honey and a nice malt undertone. Finish is sweet and malty with a very light touch of honey. Not overpowering which is very good. Finishes warm and fizzy. Capa (955), Yokosuka, Japan Apr 24, 2007 Pours a clear gold with a lasting, medium, white head. Aroma is sweet malt, alcohol, honey, and some fruits. Has a creamy mouth. Flavor is sweet, but not as much as I expected. Has some fruit, and definite alcohol notes. Finishes with a slight alcohol warmth. Pretty solid, but nothing spectacular.
