Biggish white head over deep golden body with a little carbonation. Deep, sweet malty honey aroma with spice notes and some alcohol, as well as a little yeast and bread. Deep, intense sweet bready honeyish taste with yeast notes and some alcohol heat. A touch of dry licorice in the aftertaste. Some fruitiness. Excellent! A really good beer. (0.33l bottle.)

(33 cl bollte at The Rover, Aug 25) A bit shady golden color, huge lasting white head. Sweet scent, also a bit of alcohol, fruity as well. Malty and a bit sweet flavor, also some alcohol here. Normal mouth feel and medium bitterness. I remember this beer as being better, more sweetness and no alcohol noticable. I know that The Rover currently have a lot of stored Belgian beers, can it be that this one doesn’t age well (in my opinion)? It’s been a while since I had it before this, but I know that I would have put a higher rating on it the last time. Perhaps I’ll be back once I find a fresh bottle and see if this is the case, or if my taste for this beer has changed.

Bottle at The Rake pub, London. Light golden colour with no head. Tastes of honey and sour oranges, as printed on the label. A little pepper, apricot and tart fruits. Mild carbonation and a thick body. Very similar to the French beer Colvert which I tried at the same time, was hard to tell them apart. A pleasant second beer.

Bottle @ Delirium Cafe 27/05/06. Taste the honey but not cloying with cinnamon hints. Girlfriend said it taste like a beer?. Thin with an aftertaste of honey, coriander and vanilla. Honey was good cinnamon was good and not heavy.

Bottle, at The Rover, Göteborg. This beer includes 2.5% honey. Golden colour, slightly hazy. Pleasant but not very strong flowery aroma, some honey but not dominant. Flavour is sweetish, but not much is going on besides the honey. Alcohol is well hidden, though.

Tasted 26/08/2006. 330ml bottle from Rumble’s, Wellington. Mid-gold, rose hints, with volcanic carbonation. Large creamy white head, which persists and laces strongly all the way down the glass. Honey and underlying bubblegum ester are what first strike me on the nose. Light woody spices are picked up later, as the bubblegum dissapates. Barley sugar and honey notes in the sweetness, which is a little overwhelming. Phenolic spices and alcohol show through in the finish, with a little hint of citrus too. Smooth in the mouth, carbonation is soft - despite it’s volcanic appearnce. Well made strong ale but just a little too much sweetness and phenols for my liking.
