blankboy (3165), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 19, 2005 Bottle at Ciro’s. Pours a clear sparkling gold with a huge frothy white head -- it looked like an ice cream float! Nice aroma of honey -- not too much, just right -- along with some malt. The flavour doesn’t have as much honey as you’d think, there’s just a touch, along with some citrus, light hops and spices. I found the flavour a little on the dull side, it needs a little more "oomph" or "je ne sais quoi". A pleasant if unspectacular beer. oh6gdx (8802), Vasa, Finland Sep 14, 2005 Bottled. Golden colour, mediumsized white head. Honey, coriander and some malts in aroma. Sour orange and coriander mainly in flavour, with hints of honey. Quite flavourful beer. tupalev (2605), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 9, 2005 Bottle, served in a frosted Barbar mug at Ciro’s - great job guys on the presentation! Wonderful appearance (glass considered) - light yellow, big thick white head, active and bubbly. Sweet honey aroma. Odd sweet taste. Some citrus and hops and alcohol all mixed in there. Medium mouthfeel. Unbalanced but tasty. Became very strong as it warmed. An interesting, not entirely successful, but flavourful beer! Hm, it’s hard to judge the appearance since it was served in the proper frosted glass at Duvel Café.
Fluffy head, distinct honey-spicyness.
Honey, honey, honey. It is a Duvel-tasting mead.
Too much honey in aroma and flavour. But as I get closer to finishing it I discover the beer behind it that actually is really nice, a bit like Duvel and Hoegaarden Grand Cru. kook (2034), Perth, Western Australia, Australia Sep 6, 2005 Bottle: Pours clear gold with a lovely long lasting white head. Aroma is quite fruity, spicy and yeasty. Suprisingly honey does not dominate. Flavour is quite balanced, honey, fruits and spice all there. Theres some nice caramel tones present too. Body is a little thin though, and the finish a little alcoholic. Still quite enjoyable though. kepano (239), Meudon, France Jul 15, 2005 I was expecting something with a bit more of a honey flavor but this was a powerful blonde and I wasn’t really in the mood for it. I don’t mean to say it was bad but nothing really exciting. Papsoe (14642), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 4, 2005 (Bottle 33 cl) If you expect something sticky and sweet from a honey beer, this proves you wrong. Pale golden (honey golden?) with an average white head. Some fruity, spicy notes in the rather full body. Slight bitter finish. Decent although not overly exciting. 161296 madsberg (4875), Søborg, Denmark May 31, 2005 Draught @ Den Tatoverede Enke, Cph: Golden coloured. Unclear. Small white head. Honeydense and sweet aroma. A bit too much for my likings. Flavour is malty and sweet with a strange and light sour undertone, I have problems naming. Is light watery and light spiced. Ends on some fruity notes. This beer just don’t do it for me. Sorry.
