3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Reviewed on 07/02/15. Bottle, 330ml. A dark beer with a red hue and sediments at the bottom and a medium brown head. Aroma is of spices, caramel, roasted malt, honey and alcohol. Taste is bitter with an alcoholic finish. Medium bodied with considerable carbonation and some astringency. I expected this beer to be sweet, but it wasn’t. Roasted malt character with a bitter alcoholic finish.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, 33cl. Opaque ruby/dark brown with a frothy brown head. Spicy, roasted aroma with hints of dried fruits, apricots, nuts, honey. Medium to robust bodied with moderate to fizzy carbonation. Low sweetness for all the honey, with a subtle but considerable herbal bitterness. Strong dark malt character with a bitter toasted finish. Rich, warming and very pleasant.

Bottle 330ml. Clear dark brownish-amber with quickly diminishing beige head. Sweetish aroma of honey, fruity (peach, apricot) and quite spicy. Very sweet flavor, notes of honey, lots of spices, dried fruits, notes of black pepper and some fruitiness. Lively carbonation, medium-bodied.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
This ale has ups amd downs for me. Good is the appearance, a nice bold black with frothy head and nice carbonation. The aroma is very unrenarkable- flat and sometimes sweet with honey. Taste is dominated by honey sweetness- not that complex. Palate also has some spiciness and afterburn- not the most accomplished. Oversll it is decent, but nowhere near the best.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Very dense brown pour from which you can spot some dark ruby highlights if held to the light. The hazel head is roughly structured with a medium retention and good lacing. The nose is very complex with raisins, honey some caramel sweetness and pecans. The taste is sweet from the honey and yeasts, fruity and medium-bitter from the presence of malts and strong hops. As for the mouthfeel, it is effervescent, sharp and light. Great seasonal ale with a smooth drinkability and enjoyable lightness.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
The younger winter version of Barbar, a very deep ruby brown beer with creamy, dense head. Malt sweet, caramelly, a bit nutty, honeyish, candied orange, dried apricots; sweet main taste, malty and fruity, citrus touch, malt sweet finish with grassy hop touch and warming alcohol. Sweet and somewhat straightforward but in all, very nice winter warmer.
