bottled. Lively mouth-feel of brown ale w/ slight silver head. Smells of yeast, spice, & malty alcohol. Taste is sweet malts laced w/ lots of alcohol. A sweet bread Belgian. Hints of orange citrus, coriander, and other spices. Gets extra points for being this dark, having these flavors, and not being too sweet w/ candi sugars. A very good Belgian. Int. Beer of the Month Club.

Bottle @ Post Office Vaults, Birmingham. Served in hazy glass so the blackness and the beige head can only be approximated. Smell of fresh vanilla, burnt caramel, bitter chocolate and oak chips. The alcohol is obvious from the aroma. A glorious full molasses and Clive sweetness greets the lips on the first sip. Full, syrupy palette, with the tickle of the carbonation like forepIay before the final carnal swallow. Ivdon’t get so much honey from this, but I love it all the same.

Dark brown beer with a off-white head. High carbonation. Besides an malty taste nothing that makes this beer stand out. This beer is made with honey and that is the only thing that makes this something of a special beer. Not to much but just enough to give this beer a nice twist.

J’aime!

Pours a dark brown with an ample offwhite (chamois even) head that leaves really good lacing. Nose is mostly of honey but there is also a definite fruity character to it. Taste is of raisins, plums and honey. It isn’t really sweet per se, though, just really malty. Honey isn’t big and bold here, it’s more of a background thing. Body is medium, carbonation medium-high. Alcohol is well hidden. A fair BSDA.

A dark-red coloured bock with subtle honey, fruity aromas and caramel taste. Thick body with brownish head and a slightly bitter-sweet aftertaste. I would definitely recommend this this beer to bock enthusiasts.

Pĺ flaska frĺn Belgien. Kaffefärgad med en hög beige skumkrona. Luktar kalt kaffe. Först har den an svag smak av kaffe som följs av en syrlig citrussmak.

330ml bottle shared with jeevan. Pours dark brown, thick, but short-lived, beige head. Aromas mostly dark sugars and light herbs. Taste dominated by the candi sugar though. Sweet finish as well. OK, but I prefer beers to be less sweet.

33cl bottle @ home. Dark reddish-brown color, strong brownish head. Aroma fruit, caramel, honey, licorice notes, cinnamon notes, slightly roasty, malty. Alcohol is slightly present. Taste light sweetness, medium bitterness, salty notes. Medium body, sticky texture, lively carbonation, medium bittersweet finish with soft honeyish sidetaste. Honey is not as much present as in the general Barbar beer, this one is closer to an average belgian strong ale. Good but not that exciting.
