swingtop bottle from barley wine. clear dark amber, huge soapy light brown head. nuts, yeast, grassy and flowery hops, dried dark fruits in the quite complex aroma.sweet notes from the honey can just barely be sensed. flavor is honey, dark dried fruits, malts, flowery sweetness from the honey. In some respects it resembles a quad, but comes off a little more honey sweet, and a little lighter. Pretty tasty if You like sweet dark fruity beer.

Bottle. Aroma is spicy, slightly sour. Flavor is also spicy with a malty strong flavor with only a slight hop. Color is really dark.

Looks awful, brown reddish sewage. Nice spicy honey on the nose, sweeetness. Good body, spicy christmas-ale like. Honey clearly present. Almost like a beer-mead.

Fles 33cl Kleur: Bruin met een brede lichtbruine stabiele schuimkraag. Geur: Licht zoet, ik ruik geen honing. Smaak: Zoetig met een bittere nasmaak. Behoorlijk alcoholisch

Bottle at DØE tasting. Clear redbrown with a large light brown head. Aroma heavy malty (roasted, honey, brown sugar, spicy, dark fruits, vinous). Flavor close to heavy sweet, but not cloying, there must be some bitterness from the roasted malts and hops. Medium to full body. really a nice bock.

33cl bottle. Pours a black liquid with a little, eggshell dirty white head. Nose : Chocolate, honey, toast bread. Some floral notes. Sip : Oily body with a strong carbonation. Sweet from start with diverse aromas of honey, rose and ending with a a very thin layer of sourness, yet still overpowered by sweetness. Alcohol is well hidden. Overall : smell doesn’t fit the taste. It’s a disappointment because I was expecting a real revolution of honey beer.

Bière forte brune au miel de 8.5 % d’alcool. Beau col au versement, odorat sucré, un peu comme du sarrazin. On sent aussi le houblon. Légèrement salée, petit goût métallique, un peu de miel, mais vraiment peu.

Bottle. Pours a nice dark red cola like color with a frothy beige head. Aroma is of dark fruits, honey, subtle spice, caramel, toasted malts, brown sugar and some syrupy notes. The flavor follows the nose and is quite sweet, I get the honey, syrup notes, dark fruits, caramel, toasted malt, brown sugar, some subtle spice and a flavor that reminds me of the Danish dish øllebrød. The body is medium with a dry mouthfeel. Overall a pretty tasty Belgian Strong Dark Ale.
