In 1996, the brewery innovates and launches Barbăr, ale with honey.
Born of the ancestral know-how of a family brewery, Barbar beer will please you with its malt taste and subtle flavour of honey. It is brewed using water drawn from artesian wells on the site of the brewery, at Quenast, a small village to the south of Brussels. This area is well-known for the quality and the diversity of its beers.
Barbar beer is prepared from a secret and harmonious mixture of barley malts, hops and honey carefully selected by our Master Brewer. The traditional brewing method, associated with our unique strain of yeast, and the secondary fermentation in the bottle, gives Barbar the authentic flavour of a very special ale.

Honey taste in the beginning followed by the warmth of the 8% alcohol. Not very hoppy at the end. Easy to drink heavy beer.

A mid amber golden coloured beer with a frothy white head. A mildly spicy, fruity aroma, with a hint of wet paper! Dry mouthfeel. A dry, biscuity malt flavour is soon taken over by a slightly tart fruity hop flavour that lasts well into the finish. Tasted at the Delirium Cafe, Brussels. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

33 cl bottle. Pours a dark honey coloured beer with medium head. Smells like honey. Tastes like honey. Somehow it’s so easy to drink and still so interesting that it really is somethin else!

I enjoyed the soft and weak honey taste and the charming orange golden colour. Good beer.

Golden amber in colour that was served in a mug. The aroma was of citrus, honey. Flavour was a little bit sweet, with some malt.

Classic and typical Belgian honey beer with hazy deep golden blonde colour and medium off-white, sticky, creamy head. Sweet, with noticeable unfermented honey, peach, candied orange, bready, slick malt sweetness enhanced by the honey, spicy hints, yeasty finish with some grassy hops and warming alcohol as well as lingering sweetness. Enjoyable.

Light yellow color and slightly cloudy. A white collar and well trained and medium to high size. Citrus and floral notes, plus honey, of course appear in promeiro smell. Very good flavor. Super floral, and it is a perfumed beer, very characteristic of honey, flowers with a light citrus footprint. The flavor is intense and comes with the features revealed by the aroma. The carbonation is medium and dry and slightly bitter end set the tone of this Belgian beer. It is a very interesting Beer, with plenty of character and denotes an elaborate mixture and especially with aroma and intense flavor. Honey and orange appear all the time, a delight, but tends to be a bit too sweet. Certainly not this is a beer to be taken in quantity, but has an average drinkabilidade so to speak and let that feeling that in the future deserves drink again.
