In 1996, the brewery innovates and launches Barbăr, ale with honey.
Born of the ancestral know-how of a family brewery, Barbar beer will please you with its malt taste and subtle flavour of honey. It is brewed using water drawn from artesian wells on the site of the brewery, at Quenast, a small village to the south of Brussels. This area is well-known for the quality and the diversity of its beers.
Barbar beer is prepared from a secret and harmonious mixture of barley malts, hops and honey carefully selected by our Master Brewer. The traditional brewing method, associated with our unique strain of yeast, and the secondary fermentation in the bottle, gives Barbar the authentic flavour of a very special ale.

I didn’t really like it. Too plain in my opinion. Guess I expected too much. It looks good and all. The aromas are lovely. I just didn’t enjoy the taste, not enough honey in my opinion, taste is too "simple" and the beer is too light. I may re-taste it in the future !

Average frothy creamy white head. Fair lacing. Mostly diminishing. Dark yellow clear thick body. Aroma: honey, moderate yeasty, alcohol. Initial flavor: moderate sweet (fruity - dehydrated pineapple and licorice - and honey). Final flavor: light bitter and moderate sweet; long duration. Palate: watery texture, lively carbonation, light medium body, medium alcoholic metallic finish. Cloying aroma, way beyond the styles average. Yeasty sweetness not that cloying at first, what happens eventually, thus drastically reducing the drinkability of this beer. The infusion of 2,5% of honey is easily tasted throughout all the sip. 45s

From elcervecero. In Teku glass. Watching Sons of Anarchy 6x13. Not a bad beer but Im not a honey fan. Luckyly, the honey isnt overwhelming and I could drink it without too much disgust.
