COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottled conditioned. Keg: Filtered.
In 1996, the brewery innovates and launches Barbãr, ale with honey.
Born of the ancestral know-how of a family brewery, Barbar beer will please you with its malt taste and subtle flavour of honey. It is brewed using water drawn from artesian wells on the site of the brewery, at Quenast, a small village to the south of Brussels. This area is well-known for the quality and the diversity of its beers.
Barbar beer is prepared from a secret and harmonious mixture of barley malts, hops and honey carefully selected by our Master Brewer. The traditional brewing method, associated with our unique strain of yeast, and the secondary fermentation in the bottle, gives Barbar the authentic flavour of a very special ale.

Aroma of malt, fruits, and honey. Flavour is more honey, big sweetness, too sweet for me I’m afraid.

Bottle from B Cafe in NYC. Their description of the beer is different from the one here, and I agree more with theirs: "spicy with a smokey finish". Actually the smoke and honey flavors were pretty light, but it was quite spicy - they went a little overboard IMO. Plenty of flavor, but it was a bit harsh.

0,33L bottle, BB 09.01.2016 (from some random alco store @ Merekeskus, Tallinn). Pours clear golden-amber with white head. The head stays. Aroma is fruits, Belgian yeast, phenols, spices, and honey. Taste is sweet, fruits, a lot of spices, wheat and alcohol. Overall: not bad, but a little bit rough around the edges. Maybe an aged version would be better?!

750 ml bottle from Gatineau IGA (brewed under license by Brasseurs RJ. Pours a cloudy dull golden colour with moderate-sized white head. Aroma is spicy and floral with some honey. Flavour is rather spicy, some honeyish sweetness and floral notes. Average body. Carbonation on the lively side. Not bad.

From a bottle. Golden bier with smallish white head. The honey dominates the aroma, but not in a pushy way. Palate more balanced, sweet spices, malt. Although not my type of beer, it is not without its appeal. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Clear golden color with a clear white head. Pretty high carbonation. When you read on the label that this beer is made with honey you are afraid that this beer will be to sweet for words. But its actually a very balanced beer. Malt, Flowery, Honey and a mellow aftertaste. Pretty good.
