In 1996, the brewery innovates and launches Barbãr, ale with honey.
Born of the ancestral know-how of a family brewery, Barbar beer will please you with its malt taste and subtle flavour of honey. It is brewed using water drawn from artesian wells on the site of the brewery, at Quenast, a small village to the south of Brussels. This area is well-known for the quality and the diversity of its beers.
Barbar beer is prepared from a secret and harmonious mixture of barley malts, hops and honey carefully selected by our Master Brewer. The traditional brewing method, associated with our unique strain of yeast, and the secondary fermentation in the bottle, gives Barbar the authentic flavour of a very special ale.

Crisp golden beer with plentiful white foam. Aroma is unusual - a touch astringent, some alcohol, spicy clove yeast, and a touch of malt. Flavor is more mild. Cloves, some orange, a touch of bready yeast, some bittering hops and honey on the finish. Unusual and well put together beer.

Veiled honey color with storming activity. Creamy beige 3 finger sparkling head, lasting around 10-15 minutes, with strong legs. Flavors of caramel and honey, sweet grains, wheat, citrus, Belgian yeast, coriander, floral and herbal spices. Tender sweetness with zesty sharpness. Slick and smooth medium body with crispy carbonation. Medium strength finish, superb intensity and quite accessible, lingering sweet malts with a dash of honey. Low perception of alcohol, more treacherous than a Tripel. Soft delicious flavors. Very fresh and a pleasure to drink. Overall superb quality craft.

No detail information about the malts, hops and drinktemperature on the labels. Clear golden beer with short cream-colored head, fizzy carbonation, smell is honey, light body, malty and yeast but the honey is dominated, finish is very light after hops, (I have 0.33l bottle with batch L09052018 11:13)

Pours clear and yellow with a fast disappearing white head (I reckon not how it should be). The aroma contains malts, yeast, fruits, honey, butterscotch, herbs and spices. It tastes light sweet and medium bitter, and ends spicy and alcoholic. Full body, slick texture and fizzy carbonation. Actually not that honey-like, there could have been more of that and a bit less of alcohol.

0.33 tap.
A clear, gold color with a small, off-white head of poor retention. Aroma of medicine, molasses, and wet clothes. Taste also smacks of medicine, molasses, herbs, and in this case some malts too - pretty weird. A medium body, a slick texture, and an average carbonation. Finish is long, in fact too long considering how bad it is. Overall the beer is bad, regret the purchase.
