In 1996, the brewery innovates and launches Barbãr, ale with honey.
Born of the ancestral know-how of a family brewery, Barbar beer will please you with its malt taste and subtle flavour of honey. It is brewed using water drawn from artesian wells on the site of the brewery, at Quenast, a small village to the south of Brussels. This area is well-known for the quality and the diversity of its beers.
Barbar beer is prepared from a secret and harmonious mixture of barley malts, hops and honey carefully selected by our Master Brewer. The traditional brewing method, associated with our unique strain of yeast, and the secondary fermentation in the bottle, gives Barbar the authentic flavour of a very special ale.

A Mes rate: Stunned to discover we had not already rated this and the Winter Bok so we squeezed a couple of quick ones in at ZBF. Cloudy amber coloured with a very white head that settles quickly. Sweet and yeasty all round with a slightly spiced finish. Not the best honey beer, certainly not the worst. So so.

Dark golden colour, with short lived pale head. Smooth malt, honey and coriander taste with hints of orange and lime. Sharp, spicy citrus and coriander aftertaste, soothed by the honey, lingering aftertaste.

330 ml bottle. Smell of wheat with some sweetness. Not necessarily honey smell. Some herbal smells also around there. Nice carbonation white head golden color. Taste: At the end there’s some honey, but Is not the strongest thing in this beer. Closer to a Belgian taste. The taste tears appart after a while, but is not a bad beer

Bottle 0.33L. Clear deep golden body with an average, frothy, white head, mostly diminishing with fair lacing; loe density of tiny bubbles. Moderate hoppy (flowers) and yeasty aroma with heavy notes of honey and some spices. Moderate-to-heavy sweet flavour with some acidic notes; moderate alcoholic feeling in the finish. Medium body with oily texture; average carbonation.

M’attendais a mieux.

Bottle - Clear golden colour, thick white head disappearing quickly. Belgian yeasty aromas, fruity esters on the nose, some bubble gum. Taste is rather sweet, cereals, yeasty and fruity esters, low hop bitterness. Medium to full body, low carbonation, sweet, yeasty finish. A balanced average belgian ale.

Nose of honey, a cloudy golden colour with a long lasting creamy head. Quite a sweet beer with the honey coming through strongly and light malt undertones. Very enjoyable.
