COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cervecería Barbarian is one of the first Craft Breweries in Lima, Peru. Barbarian “Red Ale” is their first beer out on the market. It has a red copper color and a nice head that stays on the pint glass while you drink. It is also dry hopped with American Hops and mildly bitter. You can also find caramelized flavors from the special malts used during their brewing process. It is a flavorful, easy to drink English-like Ale influenced with a typical hop characteristic profile from American Ales.

Bottle @ Incontri, Aguas Calientes. Pours amber with an off white head. Nutty, fruity and malt aromas and flavours. I hope to get a taste of the draught version, that one seems better. This, quite a disappoitment after my big expectations.

this should be 2 ratings - 1 for the tap version and 1 for the bottled. Barbarian is not a great bottler. here I will only address the draft at Cañas y Tapas in Miraflores. For the bottled - widely available - subtract 15% across the board. Pours a rich red with a nice clean malty / nutty aroma. Solid head with a pleasant haziness. Nice malt / bitter balance, clean and light flavor, an solid, drinkable red in a country with almost nothing to compete with it.

quite enjoyable a good compliment to the excellent food at maido, Lima. Sweet and malty.

slighyl preferred the Sierra Andina red ale to this but it has a nice balance if a little typical red ale. not too bad. bottle at Maido, Lima.

Sweet sharp raisins aroma. Some berries. Rather bitter, with a slight medical quality. Not the biggest flavor, but more flavor than a mainstream pale lager.

On tap: Poured a brownish red with a fair, typical head. Sweet malt aroma with some hop character, but a bit too sweet of finish. An above average Latin American beer, I’d order another.
