Much blacker than the typical barley wine. Nice aroma but not quite as strong as you might expect. The high-alcohol content is masked well by the hops and malt. Finish is strong and bitter.

very dark ruby red, thin fine light tan head, strong sweet estery carmel malt aroma, strong sweet malt flavor with lots of esters followed by a pleasant bitterness at the finish

2000 vintage. Velvety smooth aroma with a light carmel colored appearance. Very welcome mild carbonation adds to this beer’s enjoyment. Very malty with a deeply bitter hop finish.
