HarmonKill-a-Brew (316), Wilmar, Arkansas, USA Sep 22, 2009 Mine too was sold as "Bard’s Gold" so I hope this is the right beer. Aroma and flavor were both sweet and malty. Much better than the other sorghum beer I tried (Redbridge from Anheuser-Busch)... had a genuineness that Redbridge didn’t have. Nothing special but pretty good none the less. patrick767 (2016), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Sep 20, 2009 bottle - Sold as Bard’s Gold, says it’s brewed and bottled by Bard’s Tale Beer Co., Utica, NY - Pours gold with a thin white head. It smells sugary with some caramel. The flavor is sweet and sugary with a little caramel and just a touch of hops in the finish along with lingering sweetness. It’s light bodied and fuzzy. This beer is pretty lame and overpriced. I’ve had three sorghum beers now and none of them were worth much. Sorry, people with celiac disease... Fratto (670), Arlington, Texas, USA Sep 19, 2009 Updated: Sep 24, 2009This was actually much better than expected. Great bittersweet aftertaste. Floral aroma. White head. Clear golden coloured crisp and hoppy with a slightly dry malt finish. shp555 (1678), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Aug 9, 2009 Pours a copper color with a white head. Aroma is funky, spicy, and some caramel. Flavor is caramel, spicy, funky, and a bitter spicy finish. VAAC (29), Middlebury, Indiana, USA Aug 7, 2009 Better than the average rating suggests. Unique taste up front but familiar to anyone accustomed to major brewery American beers in its finish. hayduke (1620), Eureka, California, USA Jul 28, 2009 From a 12 oz bottle this poured a light amber with a small head and no lacing. Nose is sweet grain. Mouthfeel watery. Flavor is sweet like it contains honey. If you must drink gluten free this is the one. smcolw (314), Wayland, Massachusetts, USA Jul 16, 2009 Light off-white head. Lasts at a single bubble level. Light lace; it tends to slide down the glass. Clear, light amber.
Strong sweet grainy smell. Reminds me very much of the British milds available in bottle in America.
Almost like a scotch ale...it also has elements of Scotch itself--notable alcohol and a dry-ish finish. There’s a hop bite at the end. Not as bad as I expected--it’s certainly not a lawn mower beer.
