| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jul 28, 2009 From a 12 oz bottle this poured a light amber with a small head and no lacing. Nose is sweet grain. Mouthfeel watery. Flavor is sweet like it contains honey. If you must drink gluten free this is the one. smcolw (335), Wayland, Massachusetts, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Jul 16, 2009 Light off-white head. Lasts at a single bubble level. Light lace; it tends to slide down the glass. Clear, light amber.
Strong sweet grainy smell. Reminds me very much of the British milds available in bottle in America.
Almost like a scotch ale...it also has elements of Scotch itself--notable alcohol and a dry-ish finish. There’s a hop bite at the end. Not as bad as I expected--it’s certainly not a lawn mower beer. dkachur (2356), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 28, 2009 12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Glen Allen, VA. Utica label. Pours an amber color with a thin head. Fair head retention and lacing. Aroma is sugary caramel with some earthy, gummy notes. Taste is very similar.... sugar and caramel with some light honey. Very sweet but not cloying. Thin bodied and watery. Not too unpleasant. obguthr (1015), Poquoson, Virginia, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 1/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 26, 2009 Bottled as Bard’s Gold from Bard’s Tale Beer Co., Utica NY. Sky blue double B label. The RB listing was very difficult to find, but this must be it.
Weak honey aroma. Dark gold color, clear, no head. Honey and light wood flavor. Woody lemon grass finish. Great for a gluten free brew. It’s comforting to know that if I ever develop an allergy to wheat or gluten, I’ll still be able to enjoy a good beer. JediMindTricks (240), Hampton, Virginia, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jun 25, 2009 Clear amber pour, not much head. Not much aroma. Pleasant on the palate, but flavor is muddled and tends toward the sour...it is what it is... EithCubes (2146), Indiana, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Jun 8, 2009 Bottled as ’Bard’s’, still a sorghum beer. Ok, this one also contract brewed, though is distributed through Norwalk and brewed and bottled in Utica. Grainy, lightly malty nose with some apparent artificial sweetener. Dark golden body, still clear, with a sudsy off-beige head. Crisp smack, medium body, malty with some grass and dull-around-the-edges citrus. Some caramel in with the oxidized cardboard and the sweet after. It’s not terrible, sort of a skunked pale lager. robforbes (1090), Bremerton, Washington, USA
