Commercial Description:
This Golden Sorghum Lager will appeal to beer drinkers who prefer the lighter taste of lagers produced by the major brewers, such as Anheuser-Busch, Coors, Miller, and Heineken. This ale has a light crisp taste to meet the thirst quenching requirements of the lager style while still having enough body to interest the ale drinker during the spring and summer seasons. This beer has low bitterness and a subtle but pleasant hop aroma that will gently caress the senses.

Note: contract brewed for Bard’s Tale Beer (<A HREF=http://www.bardsbeer.com/ TARGET=blank>http://www.bardsbeer.com/).

(12oz bottle, bottled 5/30/06) Clear apple juice body topped by small but frothy off-white head. Aroma is medium sweet, bread, herbal tea, peach. Taste is medium sweet, bread, lime, some nectarine. Light body. Not saying that it’s particularly good, but it’s much better than New Grist, another sorghum beer, which I tried immediately before this one.

12oz bottle, bottled on 10/02/06. Poured a medium orangish color with a smaller sized off white head. Very sweet aroma. There’s something there I can’t quite place. Must be the sorghum. Toffee and caramel. Plastic beach balls. Sweet tastes (but not as sweet as the aromas. Caramel. Thin body.

Bottle... Clear, light golden lager with a small, creamy, white head. Fairly rich, interesting aroma... grainy and malty with notes of caramel and hay. Malty, but clean, flavor with light notes of caramel and unsalted butter. Just a whisper of molasses. Medium-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Crisp, clean finish. Much better than most (within the style) brewed with barley malt. I’m anxious to see what other styles they are able to brew with sorgham malt.

( 12oz bottle ) Pours a clear yellow body with a quickly diminishing spare white head. Aroma of grain, chemicals, florals, and plastic. Flavor of cardboard, metal, light citrus, and plastic.

Pours a transparent copper amber with a thin, spotty-lacing white head. Aroma of sweet cane sugar and light fruity esters. Starts thin and sugary sweet with a hint of earthy bitterness toward a drier semi-sweet finish. An interesting brew, but nothing that I’d really want to drink much of.

12 oz bottle-pours a foamy white head and gold color. Aroma is funky vegetal, some malt. Taste is medium malt-some sweetness, vegetal, apple cider, faint hops. OK carbonation.
