Tap and served in snifter: Completely opaque with a small tan frothy head and some oily legs, good lace as well. The aroma has notes of roasted peppers, char, chocolate, cookie dough, roast, espresso, mint, herbal and piney hops, leather, star anise, pipe tobacco, raisins, and even some star fruit.

WOW the taste has a great balance between the spicy kick of the peppers, the sweet and roast notes of the malt, and the clean bitterness of the hops. Lush malts start followed by twangy dark fruits, ashy char, hop bitters, coffee then finishes with a slowly building Poblano spicy kick. Just amazing depth and "quiet thunder" finesse rolled in to one. The mouth feel is oily and yet biting and warming too, a tad chalky and ashy would be my only "complaint".

This is simply OUTSTANDING and much like my first experiences with Livery Wheat Trippelbock or Kuhnhenn Raspberry Eisbock... I think every future batch will never live up to my expectations nor ever duplicated. I so hope I am wrong!

Another nice surprise at the brewpub. The spicy pepper on the nose blends very nicely with the roasty notes. Medium bodied, black as night, with an eggshell head. Very balanced taste, and very drinkable. Not really spicy in the flavor, just spicy on the nose which is cool with me. Looked like it was a pretty big hit, too. Hopefully they will keep this in the regular rotation. Good job guys!
