3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Backlogged rating: Near opaque with some mahogany highlights topped by a small but lasting tan head, some sticky lace. The aroma has notes of roast, toast, chocolate, walnuts, ashy black malts, some tobacco and leathery esters. Slight grassy and herbal hop presence and slight dark fruit esters. Very balanced flavor profile between drier roast malts and sweeter chocolate malt. Some coffee like bitterness and a slight peppery hop spice finish. The mouth feel is oh so smooth without that damn nitro character, what a stout should feel like. My only issue is I wished the beer would be a bit more session-able (closer to 5% ABV). This is a darn solid pub stout, yippie!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Tao flight at the brewery. The brewer told me this is his favorite and it is pretty damn good. Nearly black pour with cola brown edges. Aroma is dusty coffee beans. Taste is vanilla, coffee, and a hint of toffee. That said, itís not sweet but very roasty. The flavors are subtle behind the nice roasted malt. Great "regular" stout.

Very black pour, with just the slightest hints of brown around the edges up to the light. Nice roasty coffee notes on the nose. Good balance of sweet and bitter on the taste. Very smooth and not too heavy. Tasty. I would have this one again for sure.
