ketchepillar (475), Viña del Mar, Chile Jan 26, 2008 Sampled at brewery. Pours brown, turns black. Nice head. Tastes like dirt and sweet caramel. The head seems artificially too thick, almost gooey. Overall, drinkable. ilovedarkbeer (1326), Dallas, Texas, USA Jan 26, 2008 On tap. Looks like guinness or murphys but its like you can sense the AB crap factor just by first glance. Medium / small creamy nitro head that just furthers this wolf in sheeps clothing act. Taste is .... well nothing. I barly get the taste of malt or roasted malt at all in the beer. It feels very watery on the palate and just sucks. Not much else to say. Thanks for the brown water. Guinness4Duff (507), Tallahassee (and Poconos, PA), Florida, USA Jan 21, 2008 Not much different from its Irish counterparts (Guinness, Murphy’s, Beamish) except for the noticeable lack of flavor, much more bland (not surprising for an A-B product), but not bad. blklab2007 (938), Connecticut, USA Dec 29, 2007 on draft pours a dark brown almost black in color with an incredibly thick two finger head light tan in color that must be nitro pushed to have the retention it did. aroma however is where it starts to fail, almost non existent and i thought it was because it was served so cold but even at the last sip there was no one home. what aroma there was was mild roast and malt. the taste was better coming across very smooth on the mouth feel, the nitro does wonders here, light toasted malt was about all it had to offer in flavors, just lacking enough body for a stout. i have to say although this was no top shelf winner if it was made by someone other than ab. i believe it would score better. kennydiaz (182), staten island, New York, USA Dec 26, 2007 HAD IT AT SEA WORLD FOR FREE. I THOUGHT ON IT’S OWN IT WAS OK .IT IS UNAVAILABLE EXCEPT ON DRAFT. I THOUGHT IT WAS A DECENT CHEAP VERSION OF GUINNESS. MIX IT WITH MICHELOB AMBER FOR A BETTER THAN AVERAGE BLACK AND TAN. switzer (22), USA Dec 6, 2007 It pours a dark brown with plenty of foam, but tastes like burnt coffee. This was probably brewed to combat Guinness, but if that’s the case, it should taste more like mud. Pass. obguthr (986), Poquoson, Virginia, USA Dec 1, 2007 Draft: No detectable aroma. Dark brown pour with a creamy thick head, nice cascading carbonation, and complete glass coating. Roasted malts, clean finish. Drinks like a slightly metallic Guinness. Nice creamy mouthfeel, but lacking in flavor. jhliesen (403), West Melbourne, Florida, USA Dec 1, 2007 Draft at SeaWorld--Black color with some brown tints on the edge. Roasted malt dominates just about everything, the aroma the taste the feel. There could have been some chocolate taste in there too. Free
