3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 chriso (7063) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 8, 2010
Bottle at the Cad’s Speed-Rating Tasting on 27 November 2010. Very dark colour - almost black. Generous and lasting tan head. Lots of roast, burnt character in the aroma and flavour. Also dark chocolate in the flavour. Firm mouthfeel with moderately bitter aftertaste and some late fruity malt in the aftertaste. A solid offering from one of the country’s most unusual, if sometimes inconsistent, brewers. As usual with Barearts the ABV is higher than normal for the style. So whilst this is edging towards imperial stout territory in strength, it’s much more like a normal stout in presentation.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Leighton (4091) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 28, 2010
Bottle at The Cad’s Pure Mad Rocket Mon The Beezer Tasting. Pours dark brown with a light, beige head. Hard, mineral chocolate malt nose. Fairly sweet in the flavor, with light brown sugar, some chocolate and light roastiness. Light to medium in body with fine carbonation. Finish is semi-sweet, with notes of caramel, chocolate, brown sugar, and some light dryness. Good brew overall.

A Mes rate. Bottle at The Cad’s Pure Mad Rocket Mon The Beezer Tasting. Black with a thin beige head. Nice and roasty with plenty of fruit and a faint astringent tarty feel. Interest factor is full on as always with Barearts. Slight unbrewed malt in the finish. Nice enough.
