Cask@St Albans BF 06. Quite flat and boring, Some sweet grainy malt notes, with not much going in the finish. Light and dull.

Cask (gravity dispense) at St Albans Beer Festival, September 2006. This imaginatively named beer (this is a pretty new brewery and they haven’t got their naming fully sorted out yet) is not a typical session bitter. For a start it’s a darkish, mid brown colour. The aroma is malty, with a touch of wood and tobacco on the nose. Fairly light hop presence in the flavour with toffee and caramel more prominent. The mouthfeel, however, is surprisingly light with the result that, although in many ways weightier than a standard ordinary bitter, its still a very easily quaffed beer. Not quite there, but promising.
