Nov 9, 2009 1L Bottle brought from the brewpub by my good buddy Will. Pours brown, nearly black with big beige head. Chocolately/roasty nose. Nice malt flavors. Some burnt vanilla. Not too sweet... lovely bitterness. Bit of charred wood/smoke notes as ell. Light palate. Quite nice.

Very inviting aroma of chocolate/coffee malt and a note of vanilla. Opaque black with lasting tan cover. Lagery malt and hops flavour chased by a roastey malt that comes together with a gentle sweet bitterness that may be partly from the dark malts. This is like a stout lager (but it is still brewed according to the Reinheitsgebot, of course). Medium body and extremely smooth with a sweet finish.

Nov 21, 2005 On tap at Barfusser, Neu-Ulm. Aroma is not strong but light chocolat and light dusty. Black color, light brown head, good lace. Sweet, light chocolat flavored, light roasted, very well hopped, sourish in the background. Smooth, soft finish, easy going.
