Nose is malt, taste is malty caramel and toffee witj slight hazelnut and mild to moderate bitter. A bit thin on mouth feel. Not very stellar.
Nate (2255), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 22, 2008 From draught sample at brewpub. Mild nutty aroma with a bit of toasted grain and neutral hop character. Copper-brown clear with thin off-white creamy lacing head. Medium watery body with medium carbonation. Starts with neutral fruity sweetness and light nutty raw grain. Neutral hop bitterness. Light alcohol sweetness with sweet nutty finish. Not bitter. Watery but pretty good for a brown. CaptainCougar (4664), Rockville, Maryland, USA Aug 19, 2007 On tap at the brewpub on 4/9/07: Pours a transparent mahogany with copper hues and a thin, light tan head. Sweet sugary caramel malty aroma has a nice toasty presence. Starts with a touch of sweet earthy caramel malt and some toasted grainy notes toward a clean, almost bready finish. A pretty typical brown ale. Braudog (3463), Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates Feb 20, 2007 From a flip-top bottle purchased at the brewpub in Frederick. Yep, it’s brown all right. Bit of a fizzy, soda-like head. Very sweet aroma, almost like a dark corn syrup. Pretty sweet palate, too, damn near like a alcoholic root beer. (#2723, 2/19/2007) Ungstrup (11378), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jan 1, 2007 Draft at the brewpub, July 2006. A nut brown beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with light notes of nuts and fruit. The flavor is sweet with quite strong nutty notes - hazelnuts to be specific, the nutty notes carries all the way thru to the end, which is dry and also has a slight note of wood.
