On tap at the brewpub, July 2006. Deep red colour. Not entirely opaque. Appealing, cappuccino coffee aroma. Dry and notably bitter on the palate, with burnt malt and powdery chocolate to the fore. Not the biggest stout but I’ve no complaints.

Draft. Pours a dark coffee brown, with a nice head retention and good lacing. Aroma is coffee/roasted malts. Flavor has the dark malty roasted flavor with light earthy hops, with a touch of dark fruit. Medium body. Good after dinner brew.

Draft. Pours deep, dark brown with thin, creamy tan head; good retention and some lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, and dark fruit. Flavor is heavy roasted and caramel malts, light earthy hops, and light dark fruit esters; creamy taste with dry, coffee finish. Medium body with low carbonation and warmth.

Black with a nitro head. Dry and toasty smells with a light smolder. Very toasty and smoky, little carbonation.

Draft at the source. Very dark brown color, beige head with good retention. Aroma of coffee grounds. Taste is smooth coffee and light cocoa. Light body. Decent.

A pretty good stout. Nice coffee and dark chocolate aroma and flavor. Fairly ordinary but still good and one of the best I had here.

Served on draft at the brewpub, 1/8/11. Pours a dark brownish red color with a medium head. Average head retention and lacing. Aroma of sweet roasted malts and caramel. The taste is roasted malts, caramel and a tart finish. Thin-medium bodied. Decent.

Tap. Pours clear black with a small, fizzy beige head, low retention with light lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (caramel, coffee, roasted), light hops (pine), and light esters (dried fruit) with notes of smoke, prunes, and leather. Flavor is heavy malt (caramel, chocolate, coffee, roasted), light hops (pine), and light esters with notes of smoke, prune, and leather. Medium body, low warmth, carbonation, and creaminess with a dry finish.

Strong coffee stout; chocolate was not apparent. Good color and overall look... a solid black. Full body as would be expected for this style and a satisfying / pleasing beer to drink. The strong coffee is not my favorite, otherwise I would rate this a little higher.

Aroma: Roasted, coffee, nutty, pretty standard but nice stout nose
Appearance: Dark brown beer with a slight red hue and a tan head
Flavor: Like the nose, but just a little light in flavor and something a touch off about it
Palate: Decent mouthfeel, just a touch thin, borderline 2/3
Overall Impression: Overall this beer is alright, but I was expecting a better brew from the nose. Unfortunately the taste didn’t quite live up to the smell and look. Still solid, but not great.

not too bad for this place. pretty standard stout, had a slight coffee roast flavor to it, had a decent body.
