On tap 4 oz. sample at Maryland Craft Beer Festival 2012. Opaque, near black with a creamy tan head and excellent lacing. Aroma of earthy hops and a little malt and dark fruit. Taste bittersweet with chocolate, caramel malts and floral and citric hops Medium/full body and medium/low carbonation. A rather nice black IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at restaurant. Deep black with a decent head. I enjoyed this as the hops were powerful and it is a memorable black IPA. Body is a little thick, but that helped this beer. Recommend.

Enjoyed this beer on draft at the brewpub. The beer had a cloudy, dark-brown color with a slight red hue, and a foamy-creamy tan head with good retention and a lot of cling. The aroma featured cherries, some other heavy fruits, a bit of licorice and some grainy hops. The taste was quite bitter and fruity with a touch of sweetness as well. Its body was a bit syrupy with low carbonation and was somewhat wet and had a medium-full body.
