3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: DEC 25, 2014
Draft.... Mostly clear, orange ale with a large, frothy, off-white/barely orange head. Good retention with cirrus lacing. Big aroma with blasts of evergreen and peach and lesser notes of leather and cotton candy. Well-hopped and moderately bitter, but so rich and malty that it leans a touch too far toward the sweet side. Full-bodied and syrupy with mild carbonation. Lengthy, sweet, grassy finish. Not balanced enough for the style, but still a very drinkable, warming Winter beer.
Draft... Murky, dried apricot-colored ale with a small, fizzy, off-white head. Thick, stratus lacework. Aroma of orange Tic-Tacs and damp leather. Moderately bitter. Malty with notes of caramel. Dangerously drinkable. Medium-bodied and astringent with fizzy carbonation. Short, dry finish. Aftertaste of pink cotton candy (wife agrees). Nice offering!
