TheCheeseMan (513), Saint Cloud, Florida, USA Jan 9, 2008 Pours an insanely dark brown, with such a small head I wonder if there is any carbonation at all. The aroma is a fiesta of dark fruit, cedar, light cigar tobacco, a slight cola note, some figs and the malt. The flavor is as complex and intriguing as the aroma. A roasted component comes through here, with a slight chocolate note and a slight, but harmonizing acidity. I really need more of this one.
Papsoe (10359), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 8, 2008 (Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of yespr. Hazy orangey brown with a light brown head. Aroma of burned malt, also some ashes and dark chocolate. Medium body with sweetish lightly burned malt, fruit and vanilla with a lightly bitter finish. Appears more like a sweet Stout really. 290508 diabel (1210), Aarschot, Belgium Sep 25, 2008 Bottled at Bruxellensis 2008, Brussels, Belgium Shunky, deep brown to black head. Aroma of intense malts (both roasted and caramel) and wood. Moderately bitter, moderately sweet flavour. Very complex, well bbalanced and not too alcoholic flavour. Great! OffLicense (3), Rome, Italy does not count Sep 2, 2008 Bottle at Off License Roma ’08 BB10 made by Master brewer Nicola from the Barley Brewery, Sardegna. The peculiarity of this beer is that there is boiled grape must fermented together with the malt.
Pouring the beer into a balloon glass we got a deep dark brown colored beer with a creamy compact, persistent head. Aroma wild Blackberries, Prunes, Raisins. Tasting confirm the dried fruits, blackberry conserve, wild cherry. Long persistent after taste. A fantastic Italian Style beer. harrisoni (5331), Ashford, Kent, England Aug 22, 2008 Bottle at GBBF 08. Thanks to Christian Scheffel I think for opening this. Very dark brown. Odd roasted malt wine vinegar aroma. I have no idea what this is. Is it a wine? A beer? Something to marinate meat in? Startingly odd. Syrupy, hot and frankly I wouldn’t want to drink it again. oh6gdx (6334), Vaasa, Finland Aug 21, 2008 Bottled. Amber colour, small head. Aroma is alcohol, mildly roasted malts, some raisins and smoked wood. Flavour is alcohol, nectar, smoked wood and some grassyness. Sweet smoked wood in the aftertaste.
