Bottle. Pours a murky dark brown with reddish hues. There’s a thin light brown head present. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla and light notes of oak. The flavour is roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla and grape. Medium bodied with a sweet finish. Could be a better beer but the overall balance just isn’t quite there yet.

Bottled. An unclear red-brown beer with a thin tan head. The aroma is sweet wtih strong notes of spices - especially cinnamon. The flavor is sweet with notes of whiskey, cinnamon, burnt malt, celery, and coffee, leading to a spicy and bitter finish where notes of cinnamon and coffee lingers. Huge thanks to yespr for sharing.

[Bottle] Pours brown with a good tan head. Aroma is really weird--quite sweet with chocolate, some malt, and what I assume is an odd contribution from the grapes. The taste is a little too hot, but otherwise roasted malt, chocolate, grape again. A little thin, very smooth, with a long, slightly dry finish. A little hot at time, and really a weird beer, but certainly drinkable and overall good. Glad I got this one in the bargain bin at half cost, because despite its good points, it would not be worth what I would have paid for it at full price.

Stemware sampler at local beer seminar. Walnut/brown hue with some small, bubbly, off white ring of head and some fair lace. Aroma was malt, caramel and cocoa. These follow into the flavor with a little dark fruit and roasted notes. Alcohol is present but subdued nicely by the flavors.

Pours dark caramel with no head. The nose and flavor are spice, citrus and a grape skin influence. Interesting brew.

Bottle. Body-looks like cola-dark brown with a medium ring f bubbles. Nose-cold cola, light cold sweet coffee, unrefined cereal. Taste-raw sugar, some cinnamon, very bright, light grape, slight ginger, coco powder, some raspberry liquor, light peanut butter, very light butter, some bourbon, slightly cloying, great mouthfeel, light plum. An EXCELLENT beer. World class.

Bottle at Tronraner’s Xmas Eve^3 tasting courtesy of lithy. Dark brown pour with red highlights and ring of off-white head. Raisin and plum aroma. Sweet molasses, chocolate, soy, and a dusty tart semi-driy finish. Didn’t notice too much alcohol as others have picked up on. Appearantly very expensive though.

The bottom line on this one is way, WAY too much alcohol heat. It looks great - dark brown and little bit of reddish notes, with a nice thick, rich brown head. Smells OK, with rum and raisin and oak. The flavor is initially rummy, and fruity and red wine, but more alcohol burn at the end than it needs.
