jjpm74 (3400), Connecticut, USA Jul 11, 2008 Pours brown with a pronounced light brown head. Smells of sweet malt, chocolate, some caramel. Tastes of grapes, chocolate, spices, a hint of bananas, dark fruits. Nice earthy finish. OffLicense (3), Rome, Italy does not count Sep 2, 2008 Bottle at Off License Roma ’08 BB10 made by Master brewer Nicola from the Barley Brewery, Sardegna. The peculiarity of this beer is that there is boiled grape must fermented together with the malt.
Pouring the beer into a balloon glass we got a deep dark brown colored beer with a creamy compact, persistent head. Aroma wild Blackberries, Prunes, Raisins. Tasting confirm the dried fruits, blackberry conserve, wild cherry. Long persistent after taste. A fantastic Italian Style beer. jrt (61), USA Apr 20, 2008 This beer is much like a port wine. Deep almost purple brown beer with a dense dense dense frothy head. Tastes like a porter in the beginning: big, roasted, nutty, and dry. BUT THEN! The taste transformed into a lush, vinous confluence of fruit jams, much more complex than the plum flavors that typically accompany a porter. Yes, very vinous and warm. A super-satiny mouthfeel., probably the defining characteristic. Alcohol was noticeable in the taste, but it was not problematic. Even though the flavor was addictive, something about the density of the beer made it hard to drink a 750 by myself. I managed, though.
Awesome.
JorisPPattyn (4625), Antwerpen, Belgium Oct 15, 2007 Good dark beige head, fine & dense; deep dark brown beer. Chocolate, or cacaopowder, dark malts, hints at raisins or half-dried fruit. Bitter chocolate, tipped of by good hops & coffee flavour. Good body and balance, alcohol well-hidden. Impressive, not only because it is still a BEER. Fruit very unobvious.
