opinari (2), Lake Havasu City, Arizona, USA does not count Jan 23, 2008 Poured straight from the tank, so fresh it hasn’t yet been kegged! Very cloudy and yellow in color. Tall, creamy white head. HUGE dry-hopped aroma (smells and tastes like Cascades; I should ask the brewer), and the hops are biting and powerful on the tongue. Smooth and thick in the mouth, with a hoppy finish that lingers a long time. The alcohol is very sneakily disguised in this one--and they pour it in pints!! A big improvement off their standard IPA. Body has a full caramel malty sweetness and sharp hoppy counterpart with pleasant complexity. Finishes crisp, dry, and grapefruity bitter with a decent malty balance and some phenols. A very nice DIPA. Indra (1845), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Jul 24, 2001 Updated: Oct 7, 2003This is another one that I had notes on from the Great American Beer Fest 2000. Very powerful hoppiness which served to very nicely balance out the amazing strength of this beer. My first "Imperial IPA" and also the strongest, alcohol-wise. Malts were chosen well to get the desired effect and still come out very much like a standard IPA. Regardless, an incredibly full-flavored beer. Creamy carbonation (on draught, of course) with an aftertaste that was pure hop resin.
