Ye gilded quaff, strong of alcohol and full of flavour! This, oily, slightly boozy bastard has huge pine and tropical fruit smells jumping from it. Some dank ol’ dirty resin as well. Not too much malt flavorino happening in this big hop-slapper of a Double, light caramel and toast barely keeping this tongue-twister from getting away on a hop train. A very nice Dub from BB. Session?

Tap at Hawthorne Hophouse. Citrusy nose -- Simcoe and others. Golden amber color. Moderate, mixed hop initial, some alc. warmth., and the malt works its way in during mid and final. Medium body, a bit thin for an imperial. Tasty. The mild malt base allows the big hop mixture to shine.

On tap at Bridgetown. Pours gold with off-white foam. Smells generally green with a hint of sweet barley. Tastes sticky and tingly of lots of hoods and alcohol.

On tap @ Belmont Station, Portland. Pours amber with a big creamy head. Aroma is hops with pine and resin, as well as orange peel and peaches. Full body with average carbonation. Flavour is bitter with orange peel and apricot giving a long sweet, almost tropical, finish with orange peel and mango.

Growler thanks to Matt. Pours a clear copper color with a small white head. A sweet resiny hop nose with grass and lemon. The flavor is similar: fruity, big resin, very sweet, low bitterness. smooth and easy. Very good. 9%, no way!

Poured a beautiful amber with a head that was off white and did not hold, slight lacing. The aroma was plesant with hints of fruit. The high abv was masked by the highly bitter finish. Good beer and I would drink it again.

Tap @ Bailey’s... Poured amber golden/orange with an alright forming head. Nose had thick, resinous, earthy spiced hops. Thick mouthfeel with a decent amount of malt sweetness on this on. Hop bitterness, citrus, dankiness balance the heavy malt though. A true Barley Browns hoppy beer experience.

On tap at Belmont Station, Portland. Clear amber with 1-inch beige head. Wonderful fruit aroma - citrus and "barley wine". The taste is simply "great American IPA". Highly bitter finish. Great body and carbonation. Terrific! Sipped on this as I browsed Belmont station’s incredible bottle shop. A great way to shop!

On Tap at NWIPA here in Portland. This tasted a lot like Pliny to me but without the pomp and circumstance. Solid beer. My wife who is not much of a beer drinker even appreciated this one. This is a splendid beer with notes of awesomeness!!

On tap at Apex, pours a hazy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma of floral hops, biscuit malts and some unpleasant body odour like scents. Flavour is full of stale fruits, some resinous hops and some syrupy malt. Something off about this – tastes very stale.
