Half growler at the coop for 7 bucks. Pours out clear golden color with little head, almost flat ish. Im not sure if that because of my growler. Nice hop aroma with woody notes and bready malts. Flavor leans more towards the malty side then the hops. Was not what I was hoping for. It finishes with a nice bitter bite but not enough to push this to the next level. Im wondering if the carb issue played a bigger role and will revisit this rating again.

A couple of 16 oz pours from a newly opened tap house in Salem OR called Heroes. Nice looking beer bright golden with a large frothy white head. Great wafts of fruity, spruce tip hops..gets a little resiney but not a lot. Taste is like the aroma with the citrus/fruitiness shining through. Great mouth feel..medium with generous carbonation moves this big guy along easily. Great beer..i was definitely careful walking home after just two!

Draft at brewery. Lots of tasty IPAs, double IPAs, etc. at this place, though Headshake was one of my favorites. Fruity, floral and clean. Big alcohol was hidden dangerously well. Rich malt backbone, but not overly sweet. Bread, light toast and crackers mostly. Not overly bitter, either. Good balance. Tasty stuff.

On tap @ Belmont Station. Clear golden pour with white foam. Has some sweet caramel and stone fruit, but big time grapefruit, pine, and fresh flowers. Really nice and aromatic. Kind of an oily citrus quality to the palate. Lots of good citric flavor and bitterness, some pine, and a touch of fruity sweetness. Mild malt contributions, but good body. Nice beer.

Draft at Apex. Deep golden with a slight haze and bright white head some lacing. Hop profile is more weed and garlic than tropical. Dank, piney, mellow garlic/green onion undertones and no real grain character to speak of. Slightly sweet piney weed up front moves into peppery dry and cracker malt and finishes on the bitter side.

On tap at Apex, pours a clear pale golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out loads of herbal hops, pine and dry crackery malts. Flavour is wonderfully constructed and balanced, with piney and herbal hops, some light fruitiness and just enough of a malt backbone to hold it together. Another excellent IIPA from these guys.

Sampled at GABF 2014. Pours a bright, slightly hazy orange body with white lacing. Aroma is funky tropical fruits - really nice. Mouthfeel is creamy with notes of funky Nelson, moteuka, mango and tropical fruit.

On tap at ABV. A clear light orange with a dense, white head that falls off to a thin ring leaving little lacing. The nose is awesome. Bright, pungent, citrus and piney hops. Bitter pine, mildly earthy, mildly minty. Moderate tropical fruit as well. The palate opens with a big, pleasing pungent bitterness, palate bruising in its awesomeness. Bright hop flavor with a ridiculous amount of pine with a little spruce, grapefruit and candied orange peel. While the beer is resiny on the finish, it does feel just a hair watery on the mid palate in a way that?s distracting. Malt character is practically absent. Medium light in body, moderately carbonated , this beer has a long, bitter finish with grapefruit peel and zest most noticeable. Barley Brown?s DIPAs have always had a mild astringency on the bitterness and this isn?t an exception. The Chinook also adds a little catty flavor. Nice stuff.
