2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 BlackDonald (1127) - Boise, USA - AUG 13, 2008
Maybe its just me, but I’ve had pepper beers that were really well done and this is not one of them. Had kinf of a vegetal dirty nose. The spices were really lamented in the background of this beer. Crisp, but not really clean finishing slightly bland and watery. Disappointing.

On draft at Belmont Station, Portland Oregon. Clear golden color with thin white head. Aroma was straight jalepeno and spices with fresh bread yeast. Taste lots of pepper that kind of burns the nose going down. Medium body and good carbonation. Interesting yet good.

Poured a thin straw golden-copper body with a small white head. Nose of spicy pepper and grains. Good for a hot summer day in the high desert. Finished spicy and crisp, yet a little thin.

Sampled from tap at brewpub. Slightly hazy straw color with a thin off-white head. Lightly sweet aroma with a freshly-cut green pepper background. Light sweet start, but the jalepeno rally comes on strong late, and the heat builds quickly. Not a big fan of the chili beers, but beyond the heat this one at least smelled more interesting than the others I’ve tried.

On Tap at the Brewpub pours out a hazy yellow. AKA HOT BLOND. I didn’t know it was a Jalapeno ale. When I took in the aroma I was thinking this glass must not be clean. Then I had a drink. This was a pretty nice jalapeno beer.

Tap at brew pub:Semi-clear yellow gold with definite aromas of peppers - smoked green bell and jalapenos. In fact, I couldn’t believe how jalapeno pepper this beer is! It actually has the spicy kick of the pepper as well. After drinking it, you have a slight burning in the back of your throat that last for 3-5 minutes. The pepper definitely dominates this beer. I thought this brew was authentic, creative and innovative, but not something I would drink on a regular basis.

UPDATED: JUN 29, 2006 On Tap at the brewpub. light golden color with a modest fleeting head. Slight traces of lacing. Aroma was mostly the sharp spicy peppers and not much else. Flavor was again dominated by the jalepenos. The sizzling pepper burn was late and lasting just like it is in "real life’. I found this chili beer (of which I was rather dubious) to be up front, bold, in your face and exaclty what I thought a jalapeno beer should taste like. Very interesting.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 BückDich (5468) - McCall, Idaho, USA - SEP 4, 2005
UPDATED: SEP 5, 2005 Yellow clear color, big puffy head and nice lacing. Nose of husky grain, faint hops and pungent jalapeno juice & fruit. The flavor is nicely balanced, fairly well bodied and moderate with the heat & flavor of the jalapeno. Good tail, nice to drink. Warms the belly. Good digestive.
