3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Lovely simcoe nose, fruity and full of citrus and grapefruit notes. This is a big beer judging by the nose. Deep golden coloring, with a small fizzy head. Lovely fruits throughout with some soapy hops and a small banana esther in the finish. A solid IPA.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
On tap at Barley Browns in Baker City, OR--Glowing deep orange amber body with a frothy thin whitish head. Lingering bitterness. Not as overwhelming as the IPA at BB’s. A+!

4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
UPDATED: APR 7, 2008 Courtesy of jayg at Tampa Ratebeer gathering. Huge clear golden amber pour. Looks great. Good things to follow. Huge citrus hops in the nose right away. An almost unstoppable force of pine and juicy ripe tropical fruits. Incredible. Take a swig and experience heaven. Powerful, energetic. The hops work together in an incredible act of fusion that can’t be stopped. Profound. Amazing. Best IIPA I’ve had.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Courtesy of jayg, thanks Jay. Pours clear copper with gold edges and thin off white head. Wow, big aroma of pine hops that seem to border on wet hops along with grassiness. It delivers a big mouth feel full of pine, resiny, grassy, wet hops that hit the spot for this hop head of mine. A mild malt sweetness never exceeds at making its presence felt beyond just a murmur. It leaves a nice pine hop sense into the after taste.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: APR 25, 2008 A very thin white head is mostly diminishing, exposing a translucent, very pretty bright golden body. Lacing is insignificant, but this looks pleasant anyhow. The nose is magnificently fruity and immediately reminds of the true greats of the genre, absolutely tremendous. Notes of bold and swaggering grapefruit, milder pine, mango puree, fresh flowers, extremely well-concealed and almost unnoticeable alcohol. Malt, in the nose, is light but toasty and pleasant, without staggering any development of this tornado of hop winds that plunge right to the depths of the throat and glue themselves to the linings of the nasal cavity. The complexity of the hops and the ways in which they mingle with sturdy malt is nothing short of greatness. Sweetness is medium, bitterness is medium-high, acidity is low to mild and nearly perfect. The search for flaws will yield few accomplices; this is just a damn good recipe and very well executed. The finish is smooth but also lacks the excitement that the beginning of this experience predicted - hops linger a while, but that’s pretty much it. Just a touch too much drying bitterness ends each sip on a flat note, interrupting so many pleasantries too early to score higher. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, crisp, refreshing, lightly syrupy but well-carbonated and uncompromisingly smooth. Balance, considering the overpowering way in which hop aromas and tastes subdue malt, is excellent throughout. Very well done. With a few minor tweaks this could stand out amongst most of its peers.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Courtesy jayg. Thanks Jay! Pours a lightly hazy burnt orange color, with a small white head. Big, spicy hop aroma really attacks you right away. Powerful hops. Some grapefruit citrus was there, but more in the background. The flavor is huge bitter hops, some grapefruit, floral characters, and a decent malt presence to keep some semblance of balance, otherwise it would be out of control hoppy. This is what a double IPA should be like though, and I enjoyed this brew very much. My first experience with this brewery and I come away impressed.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: MAR 29, 2008 On tap at brewpub. Pours a light copper color with a thin bit of soapy head in the middle. Sticky sweet grapefruit aroma - very strong and fresh-smelling. Thick flush of grapefruit character to begin, and the finish leaves a slap of tingling grapefruit and pineapple on the palate. I was really impressed with this one and kept coming back to it.
