sampler at the brewpub. Vanilla and caramel in the aroma. Taste is stale malts, vanilla and butter- pretty bad diacetyl, not good.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Ick, not good. Sort of a sour flavor, thin body, really lacking the full flavor of a good brown ale. Bitter finish... will pass on this next time.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
(Rating #902)

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Draught @ Camelback mountain ski lodge (right down the road from the brewery). Darker brown with an odd, but acceptable darker malt aroma. Taste was passable. but a bit too grainy and unrefined. Drinkable, but not very good at all. These guys don’t seem to put that much effort in - maybe Iron Hill will open up a place nearby and straighten these guys out.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
A hollow, acidic, green-apple tinged mess. Bizarre spice notes and a very thin body, little to no sweetness nor even a firm dry backing to the finish. Bleh.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
had this beer on tap in Dunmore Pa. I swear it smelt like a deer. And even tasted a little bit like one. Not a good beer. I won’t rule out the brand .....yet

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
"Fresh" bottle, less than 30 days old. Glossy, mossy brown pour; cocoa red in the glass with a small foam halo. Clear as crystal. Shy bouquet of toffeeish malt and gingerbread spice hop. Mild buttery and breadcrust malt flavor, accented by Target allspice and EKG nutmeg character. Gently carbonated. Finish barely suggestive of citrus, chocolate, and cola. Light palate, but not watery. Clean aftertaste. An alright attempt at a northern English brown/session beer, just needs more personality. Still, the best I know from Barley Creek.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draft... GBOA ’06... Crystal clear amber ale with a mid-sized, creamy, off-white head. Subtle aroma is malty, lightly chocolaty and nutty. Malty, mildly sweet flavor. Light-bodied and watery with soft carbonation. Finishes thin. A little boring, but very drinkable.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Thin off-white head of medium sized bubbles. Reduces quickly but has good carbonation. Aroma of lemon flavored iced tea with some light malts and candy. A little tart fruit also (raspberry?) Color is a nice mahagony brown. Wow, light and fruity in the flavor. Some tartness with more distinct raspberry and cranberry. I am pretty sure that this is not what the brew is supposed to taste like. Some bitterness that lingers after the swallow. More cranerry at the finish. Not a very good beer.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
ON-TAP: Appearance: Served a noble brown / caramel color. Frothy with lots of lacing; this is an attractive beer.
Smell: It has a very typical brown ale aroma. It is sweet and malty, a bit clean, but has nice hints of brown sugar and caramel as well.
Taste: Very approachable! Gentle sweet brown flavors with a smooth creamy malt attribute a-top a great Target hop character. The glowing feature of the beer is its quaffability and not an over-the-top glitz and glamour.
Mouthfeel: Super smooth and creamy. Goes down incredibly easily.
Drinkability: Barley Creek won first place in the Brown Ale competition for their Antler Brown Ale at the Atlantic City Beer Festival Competition. This beer is not a big firework beer but it’s standout attribute is how amazingly easy drinking it is. I brought a growler of this beer home.
--- EDIT --- IN BOTTLE: I defiantly prefer this On-tap!
I have only had this bottle about three weeks from the brewery. It has been in my fridge the entire time but it tastes a bit stale like it oxidized a little. A friend of mine said that most barley creek beers do better on tap. Whether that is true or not I don’t know but this one in a real disappointment. The aftertaste is **VERY** harsh metallic taste that almost leaves the feeling that i just came from the dentist. And I really liked the beer when I was there at Barley Creek. ---
Hope this is helpful.
