At the Barley Creek Summerfestival today the Hefe Wiezen was the good surprise of the day. This beer, the Pocono Bitter was a bit of a let down today. The Bar tender told me it was an ESB but it certainly wasn’t that. It is a very unique. Appearance: Served on-tap at the brewery it came a light amber color. Smell: Very very light grassy sour bitter aroma with a hint of a malt presence. Taste: A bit strange. Not awful significant grassy character up front a touch of malt and then a strong sour aftertaste. I was not a big fan of this aftertaste but it was not appalling either; just different. Mouthfeel: Thin and watery. Left the beer feeling a bit limp. Drinkability: This not the most impressive beer that Barley Creek makes so I would try the Rescue IPA instead. IMHO. Hope this is helpful. Cheers!

On tap at Barley Creek. Pours a clear gold with moderate, creamy white head. Not very aromatic; some light hops aroma but that was about it. Crisp and bitter, although not overpowering. Maybe a bit thin on the finish. An easy beer to drink.

2.24.06 Decent though unspectaular bit-bit. Not bad just easily forgettable. Maybe with a little more accentuation and body in the malt this coudl have had better prospects. Oh well.

Draft pours a clear gold with a white head. Aroma of grains. Taste was crisp and refreshing. Although the beer definately lacks depth. This was a miss for me. Not terrible but could have been much better.

I think I had a good batch yesterday, however, this is particularly odd for a bitter. When I think of bitters, I think of sitting in an English pub with a creamy pint that has bitter aftertones to it. This starts with a sweet lemony cascade and ends with a slight bittery note. The finish is a bit wet as well but its one of the most enjoyable brews on tap.
