chronictonic (362), Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 18, 2002 Nice piney hop aroma - not overly strong, but very apparant. Nice medium orange red color. Flavor is pretty good - a little sweet and lacking that killer hop punch of some of the other high alpha beers, but good in it’s own right. Medium resiny character to the hops - could still use some more assertiveness though for my ’hop-head’ tastes. Worth a pint or two if you find it on tap though.
Glouglouburp (2009), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Sep 18, 2008 In short: An infected bottle. Hard to tell what it could/should have been
How: Bottle 12oz, consumed fresh a few days after purchase
The look: Cloudy orange copper body topped by a large beige head (unnatural head due to a gushing bottle)
In long: A gusher indeed, non-stop foam stream of foam exiting the bottle. Fluffy body. Something “wild” in there that’s not supposed to be there. I like wild beer but that’s obviously not meant to be one. That’s two bad bottles in a row, crap. Taste is like licking the bottom of a juice filter you haven’t washed for a while. Some broiled broccolis dipped in caramel. A lot of fluffiness that doesn’t amount to anything. Felt like eating the foam over a fermenting beer. More infected than a nymphomaniac cocaine addict in central America, but fortunately just as cheap too. acrdz (4406), Boulder, Colorado, USA Jul 27, 2008 Draft @ the brewery. golden brown color. Bad diacetyl and burnt peanut/almond in the nose. Smells like body odor as well, and some cheesy sour cream yeast. Disgusting smelling beer, what the fuck? There’s some light prickly hop bitterness on the tongue, even some fruity notes from the hops, but mostly it’s just a raunchy flavor of burnt toast and burnt nuts, more cheesy yeast (less than in the nose, thankfully), and some muddled, messy green hop notes. Medium to light body - everything that could go wrong in IPA went wrong in this one. checkmatei1 (275), Willow Grove, USA May 5, 2008 Bottle: This was just an ordinary IPA. Nothing special here. Smelled like hops, tasted like hops, burnt my mouth with the hops. It was overly bitter. Overall, just OK. DandyWolfFloyd (256), Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 1, 2008 Overall this is not bad, but IPA wise this is pretty ordinary, more leaning towards boring. It’s aroma is pleasant, obvious hops. It’s appearance is clean gold, with a nice carbonation. It’s flavor is hoppy, but bordering on bitter for no reason. It’s not one I’d pound, but I will have another. It’s the redeemer of the variety pack. Their schwarzbier is about as good. bigrond (866), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 28, 2008 I thought this was a real good IPA. ’Super’ hops flavor with a long dry finish. a very nice easy drinking beer.
