Cask Stillage at Toronto Cask Days festival Volo, Toronto 30/10/2010 Hop aroma. Amber coloured a little hazy in appearance strong in alcohol and hoppy with a hint of dryness in a bitter lasting malt finish.

A reddish amber IPA with a superb thick onctuous mocha head. In aroma, a sweet grainy malt with herbal hops, light and resinous. In mouth, a dark roasted malt with some light burned notes, astringent, burned bitterness, a bit unbalanced. On tap at Rochester Pub, 3.60$ for half pint.

Aroma sticky malty aroma , flowery hints with leaf/woody like character. Slight pepper hops. Lacking that simple smoothness of good IPA. 6-
Appearance fine haze on dark amber. Beige creamy top, good lace. 3+
Flavor and Palate : Thick , malty character , nutty front with citric-leafy feel. Hint of spice with creamy texture behind. Slightest hint of diacetyl. Oxidized a bit.

Draught at Volo. Pours a deep murky red with a small diminishing fizzy white head. Very mild aroma of caramel malt and light hops -- hard to get much really as it’s so mild. Flavour, which I found kind of homebrew-ish, of caramel malt and light hops, though the hops mostly show in the average bitter finish. Average bodied. Dull and not an IPA, it reminds me of an Amsterdam Brewing beer, not bad, just O.K.

[3396-20100925] Cask. Burnt popcorn husks and toast crumbs aroma. Hazy, amber orange body with a long-lasting creamy off-white head. Grainy corn bread flavour. Medium body. Average.

On tap at the Waring House Barley Room pub in Picton. Keg delivered Thursday Sept 23rd, had a pint Friday Sept 24th. Very dirty dark brown with very little head. Pleasantly earthy hoppy aroma. Taste is ok - lots of burnt tea like malt with earthy hops - classic Ontario style English pale ale. Finish is very dry and short. Medium body. Very fresh, so quite sessionable, and they do not hide the hops at all - but it did taste a lot like my homebrew IPA attempts, as well as current version Sgt Major. Still, very happy to get some of this on holiday in Picton. Thanks for trying the style Barley Days.

On tap at Volo. Appearance: Deep dark red, murky. Tiny white head. Aroma: barley, malt, a little yeast, some lactic type aroma in there too. Flavour: mild bran, toast, tiny amount of hops, some dryness in the finish. Fine, just a bit bland.
