I enjoyed it. jerc (3217), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 28, 2006 Draft @ C’est What Yellow body with a small white head. Sweet fruity aroma, light buittery notes - diacetyl? work for it and carry over into the flavour. Muted malt and caramel as well. Average palate. Decent quaff. tomthompson89 (1149), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 29, 2007 doing much better now orange color large frothy head nose is malty with some sugar and fruit, taste is malty and has a good bitterness to it VeloVampire (400), Parkdale, Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 23, 2007 Updated: Aug 17, 2007341 ml bottle, courtesy of my brother - one of the new ones, with "Barley Days Harvest Gold Pale Ale" on the label, not the old Glenora Springs one. Anyway, pours a clear medium gold colour with a very thick two-finger head that lasted throughout most of the glass. This alone tells me they have retooled the recipe in some way, as most previous raters mention a distinct lack of head. Aroma earthy, herbal hops, some green apple, and wet hay. Fairly sweet. Taste candy-sweet up front then fades to a fairly bitter finish. I’m almost certain the new brewery has reformulated this recipe, because though this one isn’t going to win any awards anytime soon, I think it is unfairly rated on here, and shouldn’t have to bear the ratings of the old "Red Coat Pale Ale". Simple and refreshing. GregClow (2351), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 17, 2006 Bottle - sampled at an Ontario Craft Brewers event. I’d pretty much blackballed Glenora due to the nasty infections that all of their beers have had in the past, but when I met a brewery rep at the OCB event, he mentioned that they had worked out the problems at the brewery and were now producing a more stable product. So I gave this a shot, and he was proven right. Colour is a light honey-gold with a short white head. Aroma is quite sweet, with honey and clover notes, and some grassy hops. Light, soft body. Flavour is simple but nice, with restrained malts and quick bittering hops. Nothing special, but pleasant, and at least it doesn’t taste like cleaning fluid. I’ll have to give their other beers another chance sometime.
