3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
341 ml bottle @ The Drake Devonshire Inn Wellington. Pours a clear, light yellow with a large, big bubbled, white head. Aromas of fresh peas in a pod and light grain. Tastes are corn and pilsner style malts. Like a combination of Steamwhistle and Pilsner Urquell. Light body, effervescent bite on the tongue, medium malty finish. Pleasantly surprised by this beer.

Golden colour with a non-existent head. All malt on the nose with bready aromas being the focus. The flavour is straight forward and follows the aroma. Full bodied and not much after taste.

From 12 oz bottle pours crystal clear light gold in color, fluffy white head faded quickly. Aroma is light grainy malt, some light fruity esters and a little bit of cooked corn. Flavor grainy malt with some some light apple esters, there’s a little vegetable flavor coming through with a touch of sulfur on the end. Light body, medium carbonation, coats the inside of your mouth a little.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
You can’t walk through an LCBO these days without rows of lagers sticking their legs out & trying to trip you up. And so you pick this one up. And it’s not cuz of the bottle with its sentimental meets small town cheese label. Nor is it the name of the beer -- I thought Black Creek had the monopoly on Can Hist beer titles -- either. It pours like it should: clear orange with a nice white picket fence cap. It smells like you’d fear -- that Steamwhistle pennies in warm water southern Ontario lager shtick that we can’t seem it kick. Taste is better than expected but still with that unbalanced Canadian stab at a lager.

2.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
It pours yellow with a slight reddish tint; the head is off-white and mousse-like. The aroma has notes of: bacon, toast, potatoes..? (seems like a bad joke), and a nutty note. The taste is very light bitter that finishes slightly salty; there are notes of: bread, cereal grain, honey, and toasted oats. The palate is light bodied, lightly carbonated, and has a medium malty finish. Overall, not dreadful... odd smells (not sure if it was intentional).

1.3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20
Pours orange with almost no head. Soft malt aroma. Flavour is watery bread with very faint hoppy notes. Wet finish. I swear I’ve had good lagers, and this definitely isn’t one of them.

Barley Days Loyalist Lager
Very orange pour with very little head. Strong hoppy scent also very earthy and wet like after a rain storm. Wow lots of malt taste for a lager. Very rich. Sweet finish. Interesting beer.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
341 ml bottle from the lcbo. Pours clear golden with white head that reduces to a minimal surface film. The aroma has honeyed cereals and light citrus hopping with a bit of extract twang. There might even be some wheatiness but the hops are slightly oxidized which is discouraging. As it warms it becomes distinctly pea soup, which really detracts from the aroma score. The flavour is a mixed bag of the aroma, is has elements of a quality brew but there is also some stewed veggie issues and some really strong hints that this is extract based. It seemed fine when it was really cold but the flaws really came out as it warned.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle: looks like a typical corporate lager in the glass with the exception of a decent puffy cap that lasts well and laces the glass. Hints of cooked cereals and wet straw hops in the aroma - smooth malty body with just a hint of northern brewer hops. A fair light beer but not worth going out of your way for
