Commercial Description:
This traditional brew is called “Mai Bock” in Germany and it is one fine brew. Bock fans tell us it’s absolutely sensational.

From bottle at brewery. Nose is bready, like a lightly warmed but not toasted piece of whole wheat bread. Character of the yeast comes through in nose and palate. Higher alcohol content restrains the malt profile.

On tap. Nose is sweet fruit, some malt, cloudy amber with a small off-white head. Taste is sugary sweet fruit like gum drops, alcohol seems strong, tough finishing a whole pint, cloying. Ordinary rather than "absolutely sensational"

Enjoyed on-tap at Bar Volo. Aroma is yeasllyt, and barley, faint citrus. Peachy colour, slight white caesar crown head. Initially asringent and below average mouthfeel. Carbonation turns out to be aggressive, and bring in sugar, a yeasty "cuvee" and a little citrus if you can continue to drink it.

Dark cloudy orange appearance. The pour comes out fizzy with a very quick head. Almost reminded me of pop. The nose is vegetal and phenolic with a touch of citrus. Really not an appealing nose at all. The front is spritzy and immediately sweet with malt. It’s a little cloying with some brown sugary notes. It ends with a little bitterness, but not enough for redemption. This is a directionless mess. Hopefully a one-off. I must not be a "bock fan" because I don’t find this sensational.
