Sample @ Barley Days. Pours a medium brown with a small creamy beige head. Aromas are molasses and toffee. Tastes do have some molasses but subdued. There's more roasty malts, toffee, char, and bitter finish. Medium body, mild bite on the palate. Quite a nice beverage. ---Rated via Beer Buddy

Bottle - Light toast and caramel. Hazy brown with a beige head. Toast and twig with some caramel. A rich long bitter finish, much like a Bitter.

Poured with an off-white head with lacing. The beer itself was a clear very dark brown. Nose full of toasted malts. The taste similarly full of malts, a wee grass, toast and roast up the wazoo. Finished a bit rough with carbon and little old smoke.

Keg at waddle port hope. A dark brown amber with an off white head. Some roast malty notes in the aroma but not much happening. It taste crisp despite the darkness. It's malty, citrusy and has those roast flavour there but it's subtle. A bit watery but not all that bad. A refreshing dark lager. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

on tap at wellington gastropub, ottawa. clear light copper with small off-white cap, little retention. semi-sweet and bland caramel malts, touch of grass and hay, few earthy and nutty notes, hint of sweetness. average carbonation, light body - watery mouthfeel, short grassy finish. weak brew.

Very dark and quite lager but still a little strange for being one. Nice canadian hops although a little too bitter.

Another from this brewery. It was nice, but nothing special either, I do not know why it is labeled as a Dark Ale it was not so dark.

330mL bottle from the brewery. Pours a dark brown with a bit of fine tan head that dissipates quickly. Smell is quite malty with a lot of roasted malts and a bit of a nutty coffee note. Palate is on the light side of medium bodied and has nearly no carbonation. Taste is kind of lacking, you get a bit of roastyness at first and then a bit of bitterness in the aftertaste, but it’s quite watery overall.
