COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our American IPA has an intense hop aroma and flavor. The hop character is citrusy, floral, and fruity (orange/grapefruit) from the use of Summit hops. The complex malt flavor profile supports the strong hop flavor. BarFly is a continuation of our tavern theme. Every tavern has its share of barfly’s - people who visit frequently.

12 ounce bottle at the chicago white sox baseball game. nice, hoppy aroma. taste is much maltier than most I PAs. Very bready. a bit too heavy to pound it at a baseball game

Pours a clear orange with a reddish hue and about half a finger of light slightly-off-white head. Orange peel and a bit of acidity in the aroma. A medium bitter taste with a hint of caramel and citrus that fades into a strongly bitter aftertaste with some burnt toast to it. The hops aren’t overly present, it tastes more like a mildly strong amber.

Bottle. Pours clear deep orange with a small white head that hangs around for a couple minutes. The aroma has some orange, grapefruit, maybe some light pineapple. There is a decent bit of floral notes as well. The taste has a medium, dry bitterness with a resiny hop bite, followed by nice balance of sweet pear and grapefruit. Exceeded expectations.

12 oz. bottle in trade with Fletche00. Hazy orange color, with a thin, beige head. The aroma is honey, floral hops, brown sugar, orange peels, and some light rye. Very nicely balanced flavor. Somehow both very sweet and very bitter. The aftertaste is mild and pleasant bitterness. Medium to heavy body, grainy, and just a little astringent and clingy. Overall, this is an excellent malty IPA. The grain bill is in perfect balance with the hopping, leaving a complex and delicious beer.

12oz bottle. Frankly, after my previous two Barley Island beers opening with an infected gush, I’m pretty happy with this one. Unfiltered orange-tan, thin white head. Earthy mellow hop aroma, kind of reminiscent of an APA. Kind of has a lemon-lime touch. Pretty decent, standard brewpub IPA. A touch of English character. Drinkable, toasty malt backbone. OK.

Bottle. Copper pour with off white head. Smells of hops and slight malt. Malt on the front with bitter hop finish. Very good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma: Grapefruit/orange hop profile with a bit of pineapple; malt profile of cereal with some caramel. Appearance: Hazy copper with a bubbly white head that quickly dissipated. Flavor: Matches the nose; fresh, fruity hop profile with a bit more caramel/cereal in the finish; pleasantly sweet with low residual bitterness. Palate: Medium body, sticky texture, average carbonation, long finish. Overall: Surprised by the quality of this IPA; outside of the unsightly appearance it’s a rather nice beer.

Nearly clear light amber pour with a 1 finger, off white head. Floral, citrus, caramel, and dishwater (usually get this from Wheat Ales) aroma. Flavor of spicy and citrus hops, toast, caramel, pine, light medicinal and vegetal notes. Medium body with a dry, slightly metallic feel and medium carbonation. I could take it or leave it initially, but the lingering medicinal bitterness suggests the latter option.

Pours an amber/dark copper with a finger of off-white head. Moderate amount of lacing. Aroma is very floral with some Caramel and a decent citrus presence. A slight hoppy note was hidden well. The hop presence was much more noticeable on the tongue. Some citrus and caramel balanced this one out.

UPDATED: DEC 29, 2013 Bottle via trade with Tim - thanks! Hazy orange pour with a smaller foamy white head. This bottle is a little old, and the cardboard elements are coming out. I can tell its an earthy/malty brew, and probably had a little more floral hop element back when it was fresher.
