3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Aroma of floral hops, some soapy notes. Appears a medium amber color with slight effervescence and little head. Flavor is well-balanced, with floral yet earthy hops resting atop a neutral malt backbone. Palate is medium and appropriate. Overall, a refreshing brew, and an excellent example of the style.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap at brewery - Aroma is huge floral hops with carmel undertones. The summit hops used are very pungent. The aroma is so appealing I canít wait to taste it. Pours cloudy orange with a nice big fluffy head and great lacing. Flavor is chewy, earthy hops with some citrus snap. Not incredibly bitter due to the well balanced nature of the brew. Palate is tart and very smooth. Smells like a IIPA and tastes like a great American IPA. This is easily the best brew Iíve had from Barley Island.

Mediocre at best. Didn't have the solid hop flavor that I was looking for.

Pours a clear orange with a reddish hue and about half a finger of light slightly-off-white head. Orange peel and a bit of acidity in the aroma. A medium bitter taste with a hint of caramel and citrus that fades into a strongly bitter aftertaste with some burnt toast to it. The hops arenít overly present, it tastes more like a mildly strong amber.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours clear deep orange with a small white head that hangs around for a couple minutes. The aroma has some orange, grapefruit, maybe some light pineapple. There is a decent bit of floral notes as well. The taste has a medium, dry bitterness with a resiny hop bite, followed by nice balance of sweet pear and grapefruit. Exceeded expectations.

12 oz. bottle in trade with Fletche00. Hazy orange color, with a thin, beige head. The aroma is honey, floral hops, brown sugar, orange peels, and some light rye. Very nicely balanced flavor. Somehow both very sweet and very bitter. The aftertaste is mild and pleasant bitterness. Medium to heavy body, grainy, and just a little astringent and clingy. Overall, this is an excellent malty IPA. The grain bill is in perfect balance with the hopping, leaving a complex and delicious beer.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz bottle. Frankly, after my previous two Barley Island beers opening with an infected gush, Iím pretty happy with this one. Unfiltered orange-tan, thin white head. Earthy mellow hop aroma, kind of reminiscent of an APA. Kind of has a lemon-lime touch. Pretty decent, standard brewpub IPA. A touch of English character. Drinkable, toasty malt backbone. OK.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma: Grapefruit/orange hop profile with a bit of pineapple; malt profile of cereal with some caramel. Appearance: Hazy copper with a bubbly white head that quickly dissipated. Flavor: Matches the nose; fresh, fruity hop profile with a bit more caramel/cereal in the finish; pleasantly sweet with low residual bitterness. Palate: Medium body, sticky texture, average carbonation, long finish. Overall: Surprised by the quality of this IPA; outside of the unsightly appearance itís a rather nice beer.

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Nearly clear light amber pour with a 1 finger, off white head. Floral, citrus, caramel, and dishwater (usually get this from Wheat Ales) aroma. Flavor of spicy and citrus hops, toast, caramel, pine, light medicinal and vegetal notes. Medium body with a dry, slightly metallic feel and medium carbonation. I could take it or leave it initially, but the lingering medicinal bitterness suggests the latter option.
